...Full throttle till you see god, then brake.
Sorry to read this. I know all to well how this feels as went through it myself once. My advice for the missus :
- make a list of her best skills and best projects.
- Put together a brand new CV focussing on the type of work she thinks she can do best.
- Pass this to every agent in town and arrange meetings with all of them.
- Get set up on linkedin. It really works. Make it look good. Get 6 references from previous colleagues and managers and show them there.
- Be totally flexible with the type of gob she aims for. The key is to get a job and keep moving.
- Times are better than 2008/09 so there are more opportunities.
- Never give up. (repeat infinitely)
Want an objective view ? PM me.
Good luck.
Hey Cam,
I've been there myself, and I can honestly say it did lead to better things.
It may not seem it right at the time, but I'm sure it will work out for y'all.
Keep on keeping on.
Keep on chooglin'
dangerousbastard oh dangerousbastard, where the fuck are you now you reject??
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
TOP QUOTE: “The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people’s money.”
I suspect you will manage because some people can cope with anything. About 15 years aho over a period of 3 months I lost a very highly paid and high profile job with a major multi-national and my then wife left me with our 2 kids - she missed the money. I had to sell my house and ended up renting, then bought into a business with a guy I thought was a mate who fleeced me to the tune of nearly $300k which left me in a very deep hole. I was told to declare bankrupt and I just couldn't see any way out of the shit.
My advice is to first stop and take some time out - I fucked off and spent a week on my own staying in a farm cottage and walked, drank, wrote, cried, shouted, dreamt, schemed, panicked and cut firewood. At the end of that time I didn't know exactly what I was going to do, but I knew I would make it. I called on every friend I had, made a heap of new friends, called on every favour ever owed me and worked my arse off.
I don't know you, but from what I have seen of you on this place, if there is one person on this planet who can "cope", you're that person. Your wife isn't a senior manager because she's weak and frail - she got that job because she's tough and smart, so between the 2 of you, you will cope.
For what it's worth.
Don't blame me, I voted Green.
Keep on chooglin'
Sorry to hear about another downer mate, but keep your head held high.
We are in wellington, but wifey (also in a fairly high ranked govt job) might be in a position to suggest/locate upcoming opportunities down here. PM for numbers and details if you want to investigate further.
Chin up mate, from the troughs we can only experience the peaks.
Thanks mate, we are certainly considering moving if we have to. I have heard a Ministry I was contracting for in Wellington are keen for my return with two mgmt jobs. My wifes current role is Wellington based and the new structure will still be based there but they have allowed her to work from home up here.
I am a great believer in building and maintaining ones networks. Its paid off more than once before. Will pm details.
Heh, I have cake and coffee... Bout all I can offer!
Cake is shop bought and the coffee sucks (I don't drink coffee so make bad ones!)
But the conversation rocks!!!
Holla if ya need ta
White Trash Pearls of Wisdom #2654 - Refering to yourself in the 3rd person: The only thing gayer, would be being caught handcuffed around a public toilet bowl, an apple stuffed in your mouth and George Michael administering an epic caneing to your exposed cheeks while Boy George documents the event on a handicam.
