Back door lock is archaic and could be picked by a blind chimpanzee wielding a stick in his last death throws and front door should really have been replaced when we moved in, quite disappointed we never got around to it.

In all honesty, be real careful, burglars tend to come back for a second go quite often,

and the second time, they know they layout of the house as well.

And if someone happens to suprise them in the act it could get a bit worse than just burglary if they freak.

not tryna scare you or anything, but just buy some window locks, chuck a few stickers on the windows about security firms etc as has already been said and be vigilant to keep all the doors etc locked,

there's only so much you can do unfortunately, there are people out there who don;t care and will try bypass all that stuff anyway

EDIT: At least you've still got your bike!

Really hope you have better luck than we did, had to take the rental agency to tenancy tribunal to make them put locks on the windows. Some landies just don't give a shit.

Webcams. Chuck a couple under the eaves, set up an old laptop on your network in the loft.

The security systems most NZ houses have are a complete joke. How is a dead lock actually meant to stop burglars?!

Just been to the cop shop and they're gonna do some prints on monday, hopefully.
Microsoft has been contacted Re: 360, hopefully the guy connects it to the internet and an i.p address will be flagged, and the ISP will hopefully become involved.
The entry point is known, and we have rather high suspicions on who took our shit...
A certain person we know played only 3 specific games on the Ps3 and 360, which are coincidentally missing...
So is the 5th gen ipod video. The same individual was looking for a cheap ipod classic.
And to top it all off, something I was not aware of.
Flatmate X sent a text to person Y in regards to meeting for certain things, saying he could come around later as he would be at uni until 3.30 and was leaving at 1pm.
Items went missing between that period.
He was busy later in the day, apparently.

Still without real solid proof, but I think we may have found our criminal cat, i'll update this thread after monday

Fruit does not fall far from the tree, as they say. Good luck. Pin their hide to the wall as a trophy.

You should also hit the local pawn shops armed with police report and a description of who you think it may be....my cousin did exactly that when she had some jewellery taken and got a call from the pawn shop to say that a person matching the description given had turned up with certain jewellery items, and that they would stall them with valuations to give her time to get there....she raced down and caught person red handed

Who the fuck would leave a $500 stereo, $2000 computer, $1000 t.v in one room and take but two consoles?
When this happened the on-duty police advised my inlaws "nothing needed to be done" (= don't bother them), just "file an insurance claim"; explanation given was (paraphrased) "the insurers will believe only gaming consoles were taken because TVs, PCs, other electronics and so forth are readily available from the taxpayer through Social Welfare but (even) they draw the line at supplying Xboxes. Usually..."

Don't get too paranoid... niggers don't go to school, they go door knocking... nobody answers the door, they find an open window, and you already know the rest.
