    Methven Street Race

At this point in time the Methven Street Race is still happening. Entries from down our way have been a bit slow which is understandable. Cut off date for entries is not far off. BUCKET entries are minimal at the moment. If you want this class to race on the day, please let us know...www.cams-racing.org.nz ... for entry form...

The wee red rocket will be there
Sometimes you wish it was easier, but if it was, everyone else would do it, then you remember you don't want to be like everybody else!

    Was pretty good.
About 10km away from Methven I noticed a few spots of rain , bugger, was hoping for a dry track , my brain dosent like wet. Arrived at the track now it was raining, aparently its been doing that for a week or so in the morning.
Well it came right and the track was great !
I took 2 bikes a RZ350 and my Bucket, went out with the new entrants on my bucket, managed 3/4 of a lap before it expired, while I was waiting to push it back I had a wee lok inside to se what went wrong, turned out to be simple and got underway , got a couple of laps, all was going good.
Practice for Buckets was good Johnny was setting the pace, gave me the follow me signal, then nearly crashed in turn 1 and crashed just after turn 5, I was happy with my pace, cant have been too bad cos he was picked up and gone by the time I came round again.

There were 17 buckets gridded up for race 1, I had a good spot on row 1 with Monkey and Pete Jones. Pete was fast, I was first round turn1 but started going backwards soon after Pete was through, then Tony Mac was hot on his tail not too long before Monkey came through, I was kinda settled on 4th , must have fallen asleep because Johnny snuck through on the last lap with 1 corner to go , that will teach me finished 5th.

Before Race 2 the pre 63's were out and one exploded or something and gave the track a good hosing with oil, the USAR guys did a good job cleaning it up but there was heaps of cement everywhere, I tried to convince myself that it was all good , anyway in the race andy Mac , and Philip Mair were way braver , I think I got 6th or 7th

Race 3 , I had been out on my RZ and was ok with the track and cement, Pete got a blinder of a start after t1 I ran a bit wide and went from p2 to p3 with tony elbowing his way through , as he does! I had been working on some aspects of my riding and was starting to get some results , still not enough to keep big gav behind me , hang on its Andy on Gavs bike Monkey was keen on a podium too , I had a look round to see what was coming next , philip Mair and rawjar, I thought I can do Ok from here but it wasnt a gift, I rode my arse off over did the brakes into t1 back wheel was up in the air, still kept my spot, coming onto the front straight I could see his shadow, if i dont fuck up t1 i can hold him off to the flag, all worked out good and P5. put the bike on the trailer, and the rear suspension collapsed, one more corner and i would have been on my arse, the top bolt on the rear shock had snapped . Lucky ae !

Methven is a fantastic bucket track, thanks to Neil and the rest of the Cams mob for putting this on.
My neighbours diary says I have boundary issues

Thanks to all involved in putting this meet on. It seemed to run really smoothly certainly compared to last year. Weather turned out nice and hot after a bit of rain to start with. Seemed to be a pretty good crowd too.
