I have spent a lot of time road cycling so that has defo heightened my awareness, ALWAYS get cut off, or given no room etc,

and I was a very polite cyclist too. So that experience helps.
Yup is quite scary! It's mostly having to concentrate on bike coordination being a newbie as well as traffic that made me panic a few times, but will be sweet in no time

Glad you're back into it, I've fallen in love with it already

matter of fact i might make a new post and ask around about police encounters... i bet there will be people that was riding a bigger bike on a restricted/learners license over here...

People accumulate usable skills and gain experience by just riding around, on account that they aren't complete imbeciles.

So it depends on which riding skills they test.

IMO, there is only one critical skill, and that is being able to steer a motorcycle at open-road speeds around an obstacle, AFTER the rider has had a really bad fright. If you can do that - 90% of the battle is won. Unfortunately, people won't want to learn it because its a pain in the arse and they dont need it(sic), and it can't really be externally taught, AND it can't really be tested.

just rode it to auckland from Tirau this morning!!! no incidents apart from me being 1/2 deaf from the loud exhaust. the bike is more responsive than i first thought it would be, overall pretty satisfied with it.

so far i changed the oil and filter, removed the pack rack and that's all for now but got to get new tyres and do something about the noisy exhaust...

hey chef, i got a DRZ400SM

i planned to take some pics today during the trip to piha but forgot the camera... maybe tomorrow if i can remember to get the damn camera lol.
