Got robbed by amateurs - Your opinion?

Came home today to find our PS3 and 360 missing, all leads for the respective device also vanished.
Flatmate arrives 30 minutes later after being out for an hour, pissed off to all hell etc etc.

Who the fuck would leave a $500 stereo, $2000 computer, $1000 t.v in one room and take but two consoles?
In my bedroom there were $500 speakers, $800 amp, $2000 computer etc etc?

A one man operation? Someone who knew when people would be leaving the house unattended? Maybe we'll see who doesn't turn up for a few weeks that usually does...
Some people just can't seem to comprehend that they do not have the right to be unoffended in their lives.

They target consoles and laptops. Parents had 3 laptops stolen and their wii the other week. Left a lot of other stuff worth quite a bit of money. Consoles and laptops must be easy to dispose of.

We are all 20-25 in the house, so you're probably right.

We have a very narrow band of people that know when we wont be in the house, I work 7-4, flatmate does staggered uni classes and his missus works fucked up, but regular hours...

    Oh wells.

EDIT: That's what I first thought, Sil3nt. Dickloads of consoles on trademe etc, impossible to single out one.

    LOCKS FOR EVERYONE.

Also easy to pop under a jacket to carry hidden.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Where do you live and when do you go out?

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, but glad you didn't get hit as badly as it might have been

Their have been a number of similar thefts round here over the years. Mobiles, playstations etc. Toys really. The culprits have nearly always been adolescents usually seen roaming the streets with an eye for open windows & peoples routines.

A dishwasher I had years ago, a real behemoth, was caught when she got stuck in a bathroom window. She was 13 at the time.

Plan B could be a casual acquaintance who you know. They would tend to be more organised & take your laptops etc too, make it worth the risk of getting caught.

I would say odds on that your stuff is within 1km of your house.

It sucks, glad it was no worse for you.

I would have had the lappie & stereo. Last time I played a video game it was that tennis game on a black & white telly with little wooden doors for when they weren't broadcasting.

Because of all the break in's in my neighborhood (one family!) I got me a dog 18 months ago. She is fookin useless, if a burglar was stupid they might trip over her.

The kids get caught, it's quiet for a few weeks, they re-appear & it all kicks off again. They have mini bikes to terrorise us with now. Probably not their fault though...

Don't be so sure, they may have got spooked and be coming back. Happened to us a few years back, after that we tried bedroom door locks but he just kicked the doors down. One thing to do is deadbolt any exterior doors, this somewhat limits what they can take out through a window. Also, hide, secure, or take with you anything valuable.

First off, sorry for that shite bit of luck dude,

Second, sounds reasonably ameteurish, that kind of stuff gets quick money, usually for a drug habit.

Hate to say it but they may. as Bogan said, have scoped you out a bit as well. Get your locks done, at the very least put a dummy bell box on the side of teh house and few 'Property Protected by XXX Security' stickers.

Let teh neighbours know that you got blagged as well but dont give too much details, just that some nasty bastards are in the area.

Sorry for your trouble mate, hope all copmes right

    Kids. From your neighbourhood.

You say you had 2 dogs? The description sounded like 1/2 a dog and a honourary cat.

Getting stuff knicked from your house totally sucks. It makes one soooooooooo angry.
