Intermediates as a poor-man's-do-everything-tyre?

A quick question. Since I only have one set of wheels, I need tyres that do everything reasonably well. For some bizarre reason I do the bulk of my racing in autumn/winter/spring.

I have been using a Michelin Pilot Power 2CT on the front, and a plain Pilot Power on the rear of my Ducati 750 race bike. I was going to try both 2CT's or Power Pures, but I noticed that Michelin actualy make an Intermediate Wet with about the same tread area as a road tyre.

How would an Intermediate go compared to something like a Power Pure?
Would they grip and last in the dry?
Remember, my bike only makes about 65hp at the wheel, and I'm NOT fast...

Maybe just cut some s/h slicks? I havnt seen too many options for intermediates

I don't think cut slicks are allowed in BEARS Superstock. One thing I do need to check on is whether the tyres have to be DOT rated... that would rule out both ideas.
According to Cycle Treads website they have a Michelin intermediate available in the sizes I need, price isn't too bad, and I like the 2CT front I'm using at the moment (good grip and very very good wear)- so I figure I'll be comfortable with the race tyre.

Corsa Pro's and Racetechs don't really do it for me- no tread on the shoulders for when its wet, and I don't like the feel when its a cold day. I need a race tyre to last a while too...

yep dot rated tyres in superstock, i had a good wee argument at last years sound of thunder and went from 3rd to 1st because of it as the 2 motard from up north were running cut slicks

As long as you are able to accept the compromised performance of them in the wet (compared to a full wet) & also the dry, then they are fine.
Personally i hate them.

Ha ha, used to run Michelin inters all the time in the UK on those cold windswept airfield circuits

Like Glen says, they are just a compromise.

I used a set of Pilot Powers on my SV during my first winter series and they were fine. Surprisingly good in the wet and ok in the dry - that was until someone gave me a used set of Supercorsas and I instantly went 2-3 seconds a lap faster and haven't looked back since.

If you're on a budget and not too worried about winning then they are good, I still have mine if anyone wants them for thier road bike?!

Just to confirm- to race in BEARS Super Stock you have to have DOT approved rubber, so cut slicks and Inters are out.

So now its whether to stick with the Powers or try something new. M5's, BT016, Power Pures..... bloody tyres...
