Yet another member... from antipodes (arkeo)

    Hi everybody,

Since I am a newbie biker and I love NZ as the place where I dream to live it was obvious for me to search around the net about riding in NZ. I found the site and subscribed.

First of all, I'd like to make my compliments for this nice site, that I started exploring just now.

As for me, only a couple of years ago I was able to make true an old dream, that is, to have a bike. My first one was a CBR919, just to try and see if I could ride a bike - I can't say I am a teenager, so some care was needed. This first approach was successful and I moved to my present Fireblade 954 that seems the "definitive" bike for me, and that makes me happy.

Since I live almost exactly at antipodes (Italy, to be clearer) it is very unlikely that I'll have the chance even for touring in NZ but I can always dream at least to enjoy your magic country by reading and other media. And, why not, by taking part in the forum.

Last, I am sorry for my bad English; I never attended courses at school, so I learned some words by myself.

    Cheers!

    Welcome!

Why aren't you here already? NZ visa is a piece of piss, and we need as many incoming permanent stayers as possible since our population would be decreasing without immigrants. Come enjoy the atmosphere, it is well worth it.

Thank you very much for your warm welcome. I am glad to being told that my English is not too bad, so I can guess I'll be understood. As for the answer of Superman I was a bit stunned in reading that is not impossible to move to NZ. Italian legends speak of NZ as, yes, a paradise but a paradise where immigration regulations are so serius and strictly observed that it is nearly impossibile to get there for moving. True or not, the basic point is that if one wants to leave Italy, paradoxically it is less worst to be poor. If one has to sell his own possessions - like houses and so on - he has to pay nearly 70-75% taxes; in my case very little would remain to start a new life. But maybe some day I'll be able at least to visit NZ. I know from now that since it is sure I'll rent a bike I'll have to pay the greatest attention because of the opposite lanes!

    Cheers
