Had a very lovely time with MB and The Bride, so much so that plans were kind of put aside (sorry darling man) and I decided I would rather come back and stay a night with MB than in a motel in Taumaranui. The weather forcast was shite for the day we intended to ride the Forgotten World Highway, and continued to be shite until the day we planned to ride it (yesterday) and the weather was perfect Still, I dont guess it will be going anywhere in the meantime, and it gives us an excuse to come back down there

It was coming on dusk when we ledt Martybabbes house. I got to the end of his driveway and started my turn out thinking "this is a bit tight, hope I dont end up in that drain over there"

By the time that thought had crossed my mind I was riding along the very edge of the unsealed shoulder, on the other side of the road, with the rear wheel skipping along the very edge of the drain FFS! ANNE!!!!

I have to say here that years of pootling around off road, really helps in these situations. I was sure I was going to ground, I could feel the rear slipping and the reflexes were screaming at me to brake and STOP!!!! The calm, adrenaline fuelled brain said, open the throttle Anne, look where you need to be and ride it out. I did!

Once I re-gained the tarmac I started laughing big time. How close I came to throwing myself and Millie on the road

BIG lesson learned. After spending a day on the road, then spending a couple of hours relaxing and talking shite with a friend, do NOT, I repeat NOT look where you DONT WANT TO GO! You will go there. It also highlighted just how tired I was.

We pootled into NP and found our way to Pussy's abode.

Safely settled at Pussy and Gassit Girls house felt so wonderful.

A big day, coupled with a lovely feed and some good company, made for the completion of a fantastic first day of our trip. I slept like a log, and was woken up, with a cup of coffee in bed and being told how beautiful the weather was. I was shown a picture of the mountain taken out Pussy's kitchen window as evidence.

While on the subject of Pussy and Gassitgirl, I left some undies there in a supermarket bag, and Im not talking about the ones that landed in the North bound lane while we were stopped at Oakura the following day...

I will let Anne continue once our Pizzas are in the oven, she is much better at this than me..I would just load all the pics and add, ''yeah sweet as''...see ya next time..

Although....Martybabe did try and charge me the cost of my new jacket for staying there, the Naki easter sur-charge is alive and well but not inforceable in this instance...put down the 60% dram MB....if you know what I mean

You and your knickers. I think the flick of the wrist in Oakura, and me having to recue your skids from the middle of the road, was even funnier than me burning the inside of my nose with coffee I am sure Martybabe thought by now I was a giggling blonde

I just hope they got a wee lie down after we left in anticipation of the next guests to arrive.

I just know I am leaving out stuff, but bear with me, I can always fill you in later.

We spent Good Friday ticky touring around the greater Taranaki area, abley assisted by the lovely MB. We left Pussy's place (he was heading down to the air show in Blenheim) and headed north to visit with Patrick. Found him and his wonderful family, after a bit of a detour even though it is explained to you, apparently some of us dont listen, and in this instance it was not me

Martybabe met us there and eventually we got back on the road. That Patrick bloke, just talks, and talks and talks

We went to Stratford and stopped for a bit of a feed (pie and a chicken breast and a V) I do have to at this point make a comment on the dress styles of the local population in these parts. What the hell drugs are they taking when they get dressed in the morning that makes them think "Shit, I look GREAT in this outfit" For decency sake I refrained from taking pics

From there, it was a cruise around the mountain. I assume it was the mountain, MB could have been a big tease, remind me about Pukekco Cottage a bit later, all I know is I saw no mountain, and there are a hell of a lot of one lane bridges, and yumpties (Whoop whoops???) out there. Also quite a lot of wind. MB took us to Pukekura Park too, that is a place we need to re-visit..
What is with the order tht pics upload???

Pic 3 clearly shows the mountain beautifully framed by the lake and trees...

    Yeah Right

Great reading Mom. Did you give Pussy a great big butt squeeze for me?

Mille sounds cheaky and fun loving and I like what I hear. Fab weekend out on the roads, and I can't help but sit here in envy as I was planning to do that myself this weekend. Longest I have ever not ridden since I started. POO!!!!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend you two. I'll come visit up in Auckland later this year is I get my R6 back, and show off my new personalised plate that I'm so in love with.

xxx Shiny side up you crazy kids

Welcome to the Naki weather report "if ya can see the mountain it is about to rain,if not seen it is about to clear" hope the govt hasn't sold the mountain and it's been relocated.

Should've headed up Pembroke Rd to end of road, usually see the hill at 800mts lol.

North we go, over the same roads we have already travelled I get to do Awakino Gorge again Mt Messenger is better (for me) northways. Raglan is our destination. We took a bit of a detour into Waitomo to visit wht hotel there to find some ghosts.

We did not see any, but found 3 young local lads that had been booted out of the pub down the road, and come up to the hotel to continue drinking. Funny as! Apparently they had been boozing since 7am, this was about 1pm. I stood in preference to being sat upon by the fella next to me, Maha was not so lucky, he got a bit up close and personal with one of them when they were also booted out of the hotel

Wey fecking hey, a bot of Maha-ggro in the boozer, the only way to enjoy a weekend away.

As for the hotel in your pictures, well, dont shoot the messanger but if you look at it quickly it resembles an iconic English holiday destination. Have a look for yourself.....
