PR2 give false sense of security lol, checked mine as per usual each month, thought in March maybe get through winter with tread depth etc, still handling excellent, then a month later (1000km)looked at front and bugger time to replace. The front had almost no tread on side when replaced but never gave any problem, maybe the odd small slip on glossy tar with moisture once that I thought was bad.

After the cheap price for full bore($449)plus sprockets and chain etc decided to take a punt on cheaper tyres, and having quoted PR2 fitted for $599 and about $30 extra for PR3 will bear that in mind, can't see the full bore getting anywhere near 18000km.

Might have to check out the PR3's on the Street Triple. Like Koro J, I've been a huge fan of the Avon Storm 2 Ultra's which are different in construction and compounds compared with the original Storms. Also a big fan of the Avon VP2 sport tyres. My long term evaluation of the Storm 2's is here: http://geoffjames.blogspot.com/2011/...couple-of.html

Apparently this tyre was replaced under warranty, but then the front PR3 blew out unexpectedly at 35mph, causing a crash.

    Bad batch maybe?

    Thumbs up

So far I am loving my PR3's worth every penny I spent on them, riding in the wet feels much like the road surface is still dry.

That could always come back to bite me in the arse with being so much closer to sliding point but thats how much more confidence inspiring they have been.

This has also helped me get better mileage with being smooth in the wet around corners also with dollars saved in gas, so win win in my eyes.

I decided to try these over winter because I want to do more riding in the dodgier conditions without worrying about my tyres.

They replaced a set of Mich Power Pures that I quite like and will go back to when the warmer weather returns.

Been very impressed with the 3's, they felt a bit sketchy when I was scrubbing them in... almost like they were walking across the surface, but that soon disappeared. They're slower to turn in than the Pures but very settled when they're on their ear and they don't try to stand you up when you trail brake into a corner. They seem to warm up very quickly and the level of grip is really reassuring particularly when you're moving from dry sunny straights into shady wet corners. I likes em.

This is good to know as I was looking into them as well. I'll be doing the same thing as you, going from Pures to whatever and a 675. I'm looking at something with better wear and most importantly, wet weather grip since my wife is using the bike to go to work every day.

Hopefully when it's time to change, they'll come down from the "new" pricing (fat chance)

They're on the Blade not the 675 but don't really see why that should make much difference... although the 675 is more ADHD than the Honda
