    1989 xr600r

    Copy/paste from trademe:

I recently bought this XR600 rather impulsively off a friend of a friend however, on reflection, I really can't afford to keep it. As a student I shouldn't be collecting motorbikes and since my road bike isn't going anywhere it'll have to be the XR.

If you know anything about XR600s then you'll know that they're a very well regarded bike with plenty of fans. Being lighter than an adventure bike like a DR or KLR 650 makes it much easier to ride off road. Being an old, simple design makes it much lower maintenence than any highly strung KTM, Husqvarna or Husaberg. With road gearing and brand new 50/50 trail tyres this one is well suited to pretty much anything.

Rego is currently on hold and the Wof is well expired but all the road gear is attached and the bike could easily be ridden away. To get a warrant it will need an issue with the regulator/rectifier addressed and may need some play in the swingarm sorted. The lights all go but aren't consistently as bright as they should be and the play in the swingarm is borderline for a warrant (depends who you ask). To just ride it off road it will need nothing.

The kms are higher than some you see on here but, along with its condition, are consistent with a 20 year old bike that has spent the vast majority of its time on road. I know a bit about the history of the bike and can give you more of a description if you call me on 0273038749.

As with any used vehicle it is recommended that you or someone you trust view and ride it before buying. I could potentially ride it to you in the lower SI for the cost of petrol for a car to come and get me, but don't expect it if this isn't arranged before the auction closes. Also, unless it is bought before Easter the bike won't be available to pick up until the 2nd of May.

And the trademe auction (with more photos):
