Tyre recommendations for a bandit 250?

    Hi,
Have just purchased a '98 Bandit and wandering past all the traffic this morning instead of sitting in a cage on the northern was an epic feeling

Would be interested in a recommendation for some tyres - so I can see what needs to go into the tyre fund when i reach replacement time!

I am commuting from the CBD up to KKK every day around 500km's a week. So while i want something to build up my confidence and be able to go out on group rides I am more interested in a slightly harder compound that will last a decent length of time...

So I guess my questions are:
    Any suggestions on actualy tyres (110/70 17 & 150/70 17)?
What kind of Km's can I realistically expect to be looking at?
How much are your tyre recommendations likely to hurt my wallet?
Oh and is there anything I should have asked - in which case what's the answer to that question?!

PS I did try the search function but all you tyre chewing guys seem to be on far bigger bikes than me so didn't know if your recommendations were likely to be the same?

    Cheers

I have been using Dunlop Sportmax GPRA10's SP II,and they are great tyres, although they are rather sticky,so I'm not sure how many kms you can get out of them, mine still look ok after 5000km.

For a 250 Bandit that is used mainly for commuting and perhaps a few group rides you should stay clear of the more sporty type tyres. I'm not sure about your budget, but I would suggest that you look for either dual compound or multi compound tyres.

I know I have a much heavier bike than yours, but I have found great road performance from Conti Attacks. For your type of riding I would look at the Conti Road Attack.

Stay clear of the really hard compond tyres (such as Cheng Shings0. They will last for ever, but will spit you off as soon as there is a cloud in the sky.
    Time to ride

Sport demons are great value for money, AI've found them to out perform and last longer than anything else for the same coin. I personally think do not get IRC RX-01, I keep buying bikes with these fitted, the don't provide much feedback, are horrid in the wet and the rears wear too fast, I munched one in 3000km on the last 250 and have had a sport demon on the fron tof the CB400 for 7000km now and it's been great

Bridgestone BT45's are an AWESOME tyre for the Bandit ....... your favourite shop can get 'em, in the right sizes, at pretty good prices

Dual Compound, no drop off in performance when it pee's down either - DO IT !

My 95 Bandit came with Pirelli Diablos. I'm happy with those. They feel sticky enough. Im satisfied
The only stupid question is a question not asked!
