New kid on the block - Bennche Megelli 250R

Just picked red one up for testing and I like it!

Sounds very loud, plenty of room on it for a 250 and it looks hot. RRP is $5999 and I might just get one for skids up Queen Street on a Friday night.

Attached is a pic of one off the internet but will post more photos of it once I've had more of a play with it

If you'd like to see the full review on it'll be in the June issue of Motorcycle Trader.

Just the looks alone make the Ninja 250 seem crap.

Its an absolute stunner for sure. I wonder how it performs, given it's a single cylinder.

I think around town its pretty good for a single - the sound makes it feel like your going faster or on something way bigger. You'll have to check out the review on it in the June issue if you're really interested.

They've spent some time on its looks. Even has branded headlight covers and it comes with its own make of tyres. The front casing it remindes me of the old Buell styles and the seating position isn't too bad on the wrists. Pretty easy bike to ride but will know more once I've scrubbed in the new tyres, they where pretty slippery when I picked it up it hadn't been long out of the box.

It'll be interested to see that pitted against the new CBR250R, battle of the single cylinders.

The RRP $5999 should have given that away

If you're new to riding and want to look good while learning, then this has to be a better option than the heftier, Hyobung.

The Hyosung GT250R is heavy at 176kg dry but it seems to be a popular model in the learners market. The Megelli is 131kgs which is more of a 125cc weight
Even the new Honda CBR250R is 169kgs wet. I'm going to have a closer inspection when I get into work tomorrow....

I rode a 1000cc air cooled Ducati that was 135kg... with ~120 ponies it was quite a ride!

I've seen and heard one of these beasts riding around over here in Australia - you're right, it does make a lot of noise. Unfortunately due to traffic I never got to find out if the noise was proportional to the speed.

That sort of weight if it's stripped and ready for racing it'd probably be very competitive in Proddy Lites, even though it's only a single.

That kickstand drag looked a bit freaky. You could easily end in a good highside. Wonder if the dude shit himself or if he did that on purpose for the video

Wonder if the parallel twin from the ninja would fit into that frame?

Either Kwaka is creaming it and resting on their laurels at $8,695 retail, or the Magelli will quickly become an ugly orange / brown colour due to "Get what you pay for".

I hope the QC is up there as it looks great. 10x better than the Ninga.
