    I have an urge

I love my Millie, she is such a cool shade of blue. She has a blue frame. I have the urge to add a little something more...

Knowing absolutely nothing about the consequences of this urge, nor how to satisfy it, I am appealing to the KB brains trust for help.

I want some blue led's, in strategic places, to make Millie even moar yummy!

Some (read most over winter) of my commuting time will be in the dark and I dont really want to be a cop magnet. What are the legalities of running discrete blue led's? I am not talking about in your face, front facing lights, just under screen/tank highlights really.

Then how to install? Where to buy? Seperate switching?

And how soon can I achieve this?

Get some decent headlamp bulbs. I'll dig out the flyer for the 'blue' ones.

I can have a Blue headlight? Wont that be duller than white?

Edit: I just had a quick look at that site! OMG! Yet another perfection for my Millie. I want the accents though

Piece of piss, you can order them ready to go or get them as individual leds and hook em up with resistors however you want them. You are not supposed to show a 'blue; light AFAIK but if the light is hidden but shining onto other bits then it will fall under the "only a problem if someone complains" category.

I think blue accent lighting is ok as long as the bulbs cannot be seen directly. If the bulbs can be seen directly it has to be standard colors (yellow white for front, red yellow for rear). Think TM probably has some you can wire in directly, this sort of thing perhaps?

Yeah, and I am commuting in the shitty city for part of my journey. I have only been doing it for a few weeks and already I can see how "blind" other road users are sometimes. I figure if they have to think twice about what the hell I am, then I am a safer biker for sure. I just dont want to blind anyone, or break the law too blatantly in the process.

I also want to make Millie very special. I liken it to buying her diamonds, or in this case saphires to show off how much I love her

haha, I'm not one to judge, in fact my ginny had much the same dark days (figuratively speaking of course). LEDs are pretty low power draw, so you could probably get some shit to wire it to twinkle or pulse a bit if that's your fancy. Or wire it to come on at night only.

    Legal stuff here: http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/vi...hting-v4a2.pdf

Look at the last section, cosmetic lighting, that's the category you're going to be under for anything not white/amber/red.

Don't make them directly visible, obey the sight angles, they must not flash/pulse/move etc.

Don't know where to buy, ask GiJoe perhaps, he's got them on his Hornet CB900, he even wired them up to a remote, so he could turn them on and off at will. Wiring... I'd be doing it completely separate to anything else, but then, I'm a Gremlin
