Yeah Katman reminds me of the reason why we shouldn't publicise terrorist activities to give them a taste of the lime light.

    Thumbs up

Skippa, I've no idea how you came to crash off your bike, could you explain what happened.
I am glad that your gear saved you from more serious injury and that you've taken the time to come here and tell other motorcyclists about how well it all did, I'm assuming in the spirit of caring and sharing and allowing that there are many out there who don't bother with adequate gear.
You'd not be here telling us anything if you'd been wearing jeans, a dress jacket and snow field gloves aye.
On you for taking the time.
Just one thing though, while Katmans message might not be something you're happy about, have you thought about what did happen and what if anything you could have done to prevent or at least limit what happened to you as a result.
I ask this because when you boil down what KM is saying, that's what he'd like you to tell us in all it's naked glory and without telling us about all the other factors that contributed.
Every day above ground is a good day!:

    +1. I agree entirely.

Too many PC wankers concerned about the feelings and emotions of those involved instead of the actual riding.

Im getting tired of you HAVING to voice your fucking opinions everytime someone mentions a crash, get over yourself we got your repetitive anal boring as FUCK message, sing a different tune FFS.
If a biker wants to talk about his crash and stuff for whatever reason try to keep out of it just for fucking once.

    Cheers, thats more constructive.
I actually dont have any issue with Katpisses base message, its just that he doesnt care about it anymore. He is only intereted in abuse, assumption and gutter scraps. Thats ok, but dont expect me to bare my soul....I am not throwing myself to the jackels.
There are three key things I would change if I was to go on that ride again, tell you what tho, they wont grace the pages of this forum. Katpiss and his bum buddies have made sure of that.
As an aside, ACC hasnt been involved in any of this, I will nurse my own injuries thanks...

it is annoying that it has come to that Sharing about what the crasher would do differently could help other avoid the same or worse. As your off isn't going to affect ACC then those that are convinced that abusing people who have offs will somehow help reduce their levies have no reason to complain, yeah don't be deluded they aren't interested in the biker concerned only their own wallets.
Anyhow thanks for your views on your gear skippa1.

Just good to hear you were not too badly injured. Your post shows that good gear wont ever go amiss. Guess that was the whole point of the thread, not what / who caused the "off".

The reality is that riders crash for a variety of reasons. Mine was due to inattention (mind on other things) as well as circumstances - mind on a very important rehearsal I was on my way to attend and a sea of brake lights coming on at the very moment I turned my head to do my shoulder check before overtaking.

All I can say about the gear is that I was very thankful to my helmet, jacket, boots and gloves. The jacket still managed to rip open and my shirt got torn from collar to cuff as I didn't have the zip done completely up; and I wasn't wearing my leather pants. The side seam of my dress jeans ripped open (right leg) but no damage done to my legs thankfully (they were a relatively heavy duty denim).

Helmet, gloves, jacket and boots all had to be replaced. Still have the jacket as a reminder of why to wear one.

Bottom line is - regardless of why you have an accident, having the correct gear is important. End of story.
