I saw this thread coming a mile away.

We're being told to learn lessons, so the lesson is: if you crash don't discuss on KB without fully taking all the blame publically otherwise thread will turn into a waaaaah fest.

Well done Skippa, glad you're ok, thanks for sharing the value of gear for noobs without scaring them with fanatcism, glad you had good gear, and i hope there was something you can learn from it.

Nah, although good for you for having such excellent eyesight.

Lessons learnt are the ones you shouldn't have to come on here saying "well I read this thread about....but I still gone an' dun it anyways"

That's exactly how it is these days. Basically, whether you're in a single vehicle or multi vehicle accident, to prevent that stuff you need to write "I fucked up but luckily my gear reduced my injuries"

All I can say about the gear is that I was very thankful to my helmet, jacket, boots and gloves. The jacket still managed to rip open and my shirt got torn from collar to cuff as I didn't have the zip done completely up; and I wasn't wearing my leather pants. The side seam of my dress jeans ripped open (right leg) but no damage done to my legs thankfully (they were a relatively heavy duty denim).

Helmet, gloves, jacket and boots all had to be replaced. Still have the jacket as a reminder of why to wear one.

Bottom line is - regardless of why you have an accident, having the correct gear is important. End of story.
There you go, it was an accident.

An unfortunate turn of events producing an undesirable outcome.

Vary the same events and get a different outcome.

We all make mistakes and our experiences reduce the chances of repeating them (for most of us).

PB - For me the number one thing is having things on my mind, taking my eye off the ball. If I have something serious on my mind, I just won't ride.

This is a good thread as it enforces the ATGATT principle. There may be some riders reading this who will change what they wear when riding and potentially save themselves form something serious.

It's a shame that some see the need to spoil it

    +1

Good, real life, gear reviews are always helpful.

Would just like to point out that brands are always good to put in as well (no brand given for your gloves or leathers).

Even though this thread isn't about the crash, I for one are glad that you came out of it relatively OK and am sure that you will learn from the experience - without the assistance of a Kiwibiker Kangaroo Court judgment.

Think the one with the head in the sand maybe you, as you have made assumptions on the cause without hearing one thing about the accident. Thank God our crash investigation unit doesn't work like this.

For your info, this thread was a gear analysis and not a crash analysis.

As hard as it might be to understand it - that is exactly what I was doing.

Tell us all this...if the OP didn't give a shit, why was he wearing ATG, why would he post his gratitude for that, mention when it probably won't help, but still recommend that we should all get good gear?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Brands for leathers and gloves were all Triumph.

The OP, i am happy to listen to, as he does have some relevant information for people, in your case, it had bugger all relevance to this thread, so i don't give a shit about what you said.
The thread was about the gear, not an invite for you and Katsmell to go off at the mouth again.

Interesting as it would be easy to write the Triumph stuff off as just accessories to the bike brand, marketing, like fingerless gloves.

    Totally relevant.
OP suggested that good gear won't save you from being a cock. It is equally true that good gear won't save you if you are being completely on to it in your riding, but get unlucky.
Are you saying that wearing good gear is totally irrelevant?

Good gear is totally relevant for this thread, anything else belongs in another thread.
