Man - I cant figure out why I dont bother going to see or sponsor road racing in NZ...

Everyone bitches about the costs and no sponsorship etc, an importer steps up and does something pretty cool, or at least makes a start on it and it turns into this. Its pretty tragic.

Good on the Hyo Importers. I'm very impressed that they have bothered trying to support a class thats obviously important to them. It shows a bit of class and initiative. However - the riders really ought to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. At this rate I would be surprised if they do it again.

From what I have read here, looks like this is to be held at a club round, not nationals at this stage.

To be held in conjunction with the AMCC nad run at all 5 of their Protecta series rounds,

Yip,Thats correct,There were talks surrounding 2 rounds of the Tri series being added to it to make it 7 rounds,But it just couldnt be done.

To the best of my knowledge there was never any intention to make it part of the Nationals.

Yes, no doubt about it, a distributor showing any support is great. In can only be good
But don't confuse this support as promoting growth in youth road racing in NZ
Because it's not.

It's in one place, exclusively on bikes outside an MNZ class (ie excludes Streetstock,
Kawasaki, and other Prolite bikes. (Which so far have whipped the Hyosungs)
Any rider can go out and win the money, including any age group or Nation champ competency. (And they WILL turn up)

It's free world, I'll say it again, good on them though for taking some initiative.

Another area I have identified as a problem is in the past the last round of the AMCC series has clashed with the South Island rounds of the Nationals,Meaning anybody with a Hyosung planning on doing the nationals is at a disadvantage with this series and yes there are people from the other national classes that have brought bikes for this series already,As far as the Hyosung not being competitive with the Kawasaki's,What a load of rubbish!!Max proved at Timaru the bikes capable,He was only 2 seconds off both Jared Pike and Seth Devereux at his first attempt at a track as technical as levels is where Seth and Jared have done hundreds of laps,As far as the guys on my bikes,They just werent experienced enough too adapt and really didnt have a clue how!Alex Faulkner was streets ahead of ALL the riders on my lease bikes,Also at that stage,All my lease bikes were running standard jetting.

Good on you Ken & Richard + the Auckland club for taking the initiative & putting something up for grabs & in place.

I would pay good money to see and end of season invitational race on these things. Say 15 riders from 1000, 600 and 125's all dicing on stock 250's - repair bill might be a little steep afterwards.

Well I have brought one for this series and maybe a second one in the pipeline so I hope there are 35 on the grid as planned so I can be thrashed by the young guns but maybe out brake some of the old dogs.
Good on Hyosung for stepping up in a crap economy and making what may be the biggest class on the grid.
