Ok, as the other thread has been hijackedI am putting part 2 in a new thread. If you didnt see my first thread, see here http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...-saved-my-arse...
Insurance have come to the party. They required a photo of each piece of gear and the damage, a letter of statment that the gear was no good for safety gear on a bike anymore and a pre accident valuation on the gear. The bike shop wouldnt give a pre accident valuation because,
1) They dont sell second hand gear
2) They believe that the insurance company should provide full replacement
Their price came up at $3250 incl GST for full replacement
The insurance company took the age of the oldest piece of gear (helmet) at 10 months(been replacing all the gear over the last year) and made a call of 20% depreciation on all the gear, less a $200 excess and it came out at $2400 payout (round figures for the pedantic)
Soooooo.......new gear,
1 x Revit Union leather jacket
1 x Revit GT2 leather pants
1 x Shoei Qwest helmet
1 x pair Revit Zoom Gloves
1 x Sidi Canyon boots
I feel decked out againand ready to hit the road......as soon as I get a new bike
Feel free to PM me if you want to ask about my old gear and how it went in the crash, or contribute to the old thread
