GSX-R coils?

In amongst misadventures with my 250 involving plug holes etc I had the hard section of a lead (the part that actually plugs to the plug) detach from the cable. The cable end looks in pretty crappy shape, so I just bunged it back on there lol. I'm thinking they're the factory originals and everything looks pretty flogged.

Is it possible to somehow get the leads separately and make things work? The suzuki parts catalogue I've tracked down seems to imply that the leads are part of the coils, meaning I'd have to get two new coils.

Hey buddy

A coil HT lead is just a coil HT lead - if it plugs in at the coil end (might need to be a 90degree bend at this end) and the sparkplug end then try and find one at your local auto parts store that is the right length and fits down the cylinder recess where the sparkplug is, and it'll work!

I'm not sure if it actually unplugs at the coil end. The parts catalogue I found lists them as a unit, complete with the coil, and I'm afraid of just yanking on it and disabling the bike haha

it may unscrew from the coil
but most likely it will be hard wired to the coil
cant you just screw the plug end back onto the lead?

The issue seems to have gone away for now. If I found a pair of automotive coils with the same terminal setup and used automotive leads, would that work? Or would the bike's electrical system not be able to handle the extra impedance etc?

Most HD leads should have similar impedance. It all depends on length.

I have one of these, and the leads screw into the coil... chances are you'd have to get the whole unit.
