Yep full track to. You get to use the dipper as long as there are no cars on at the same time. Opp's learnt the hard way, fucken out of towners. Mad corner. The sweeper on the other hand has got to be the longest corner I have ever encountered. Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Almost! no still going.

Cool, we did the BOB in 2008 and loved it. If finances and injuries allowed we'd be down there in a shot!

Sadly the days of the good old Battle of the Buckets events which were first and foremost a BUCKET racing event, seem to have been over looked by the new President and current committee. This years BoB event is scheduled as ONE race during the lunch break in a regular CAMS meeting. Quite how this turn of events has come about is beyond me. As far as I know CAMS don't even have the booking for the race date.
This event was once the main stay of the Bucket Motorcycle Racing Club (http://www.bmrc.co.nz/) and has had quite a proud history of putting on great events. It was also one of the few events where the club was able to make a small financial gain to keep the coffers going.
Seems the new race meeting will not be holding the advertised classes either, and will have the usual CAMS classes, Pre 62, Pre 72 etc ...
    And this is progress ...

Perhaps you could step up, run your own event and show them how its done then

Thanks for your input Kickaha, possibly at your advanced age you can no longer remember the previous events? And I guess just one race would suit you well too?

Ha? So not the same as last year then. Would there still be 5 races?

It started to go downhill when you guys lost access to Wigram.....any of your committee Ngai Tahu ?

try getting a booking for a raceday on Ruapuna which isn't in the middle of winter...there are an awful lot of other people who want to use the place too.

Yeah, you will get plenty of races. Should get 5 rounds in. Just doesn't look like there will be a separate F5 race this year. Buckets will be all in one. CAMS run a good meeting and certainly seem to get through the races pretty quickly, depending on the crash rate.
Grateful for their help, just a shame the original idea and concept seems to have been overlooked. As Yow Ling has mentioned maybe its just a one off, and its the easy way out. Hopefully in the future we can return to how it used to be.

Yeah, how rude, turning Wigram into a housing estate!
That has been a problem too , its very hard to get a race date confirmed. Sometimes you can get a date at short notice when something else cancels but that doesn't help trying to plan a big meeting.

...CAMS has been asked to apply for the permit for this event, sign the contract with the Car Club, supply Flaggies , Ambulance , Steward, COC, supply lunch, sign on competitors....the format of the day has not been discussed with us, but as always , we will be as ameniable as always....we have not had a meeting in a long while, where we have not got through four rounds and the flying, all in for so long , I find it hard to remember when....where is the 'only one race' bit, coming from...have not seen anyone leave our meetings in a long while that weren't raced out and rooted....a minimum amount of riders must sign on to make any meeting cover its costs...

My understanding from the email sent out by Wallace as a CAMS committee member says that this meeting will be a regular CAMS meet with an extra bucket race during the lunch break. I'm sure you have seen it Neil.
CAMS will be hosting the Battle of the Buckets on 15 October. That means that while you are munching away on your lunch break, you can watch the F4's giving each other hell for 55 minutes.

All traditional CAMS sprint classes will be held as per race meeting.

    Hope to see you there.

    Cheers Wallace

The one race comment is meant to show the only difference between a regular CAMS meeting and the "Battle of the Buckets" will be the lunch time race. This has also been confirmed by Tony Mac ...
Maybe they know more than you, Neil?

...I can discuss it with the committee tomorrow, Gav, six of us will be in the same room at an MNZ seminar tomorrow...we may decide to cancel our permit application if you want....
