The first XBox kit was released too early not ready for prime time.

IMO - PS3 is better kit.

Blue Ray means nothing unless you want to go out and rebuy all your DVDs at 3x the pirce.

Like has already been said, make sure the games you plan to run are supported on whatever you go for.

I'm sorry I have to..., your right but ONLY on multi-platform, if it is built up exclusive, the PS3 does pull out superior graphics. Also it's only cheaper if you don't plan on getting Bluray or playing online

Especially if you have a big TV, the difference with blu-ray is quite noticeable! Comparable to the difference between a grainy old CRT and a nice smooth LCD really

Use to own an Xbox 360 but sold it to get a PS3 as I felt the Xbox was too limited. Blu-Ray is bloody good on an HD tv and sound system. One thing that bugged me about the Xbox was its storage limitation so games are limited in size.

Game developers who want to makes games for both consoles are limited by the Xbox's storage capacity campared to Blu-Ray. The one thing I love about the PS3 is its very good as a mulitmedia system compared to the Xbox.

I aint no geek but notice the picture and sound are far better. Maybe you're still using an old CRT tv?

    PS3 - [LIST]
    • Blu Ray - On an HDTV you'd have to be blind not to notice the difference.
    • DVD Upscaling
    • PSN network
    • Media server
    • Easily upgradeable HDD
    • Wifi networking

I've got both, the x360 is my pick of the two as it has a far superior controller, my ps3 is onlyy used to play exclusives.

On the ps3 note a couple of negatives - at least to my mind. I own the PS3

    - dvd playback is NOT open zone - restricted to zone 4 only
    - its online gaming is free but a bit rubbish
    - it has the worst browser in the known world - if you are using it for web or anything it is extremely painful

I hardly ever use it now, infact I think I will end up going back to PC gaming rather than console gaming.

Just one more point to add in favour of the PS3..... If its going to live in your living room, its looks are subdued and stylish and most omportant of all, when its running it's almost inaudable.

Mine is networked to my PC and home theatre, I no longer own a stereo, all my music is ripped to the computer and the PS3 plays it through the home theatre. Also plays downloaded films and the family photos on the TV.

    PS3
    - Free online play
    - Awesome media server
    - Bluray
    - Quiet operation
    - Reliable
    - Awesome exclusives
    - Games for all ages all types
    - Controller
    - Bluetooth
    - Non-proprietary components
    - Region free games
    - Better upscaling of DVD's/videos

    360
    - Voice chat between games
    - Couple of excellent core-gamer games (Gears, Forza, (& some say Halo too))
    - Controller
    - "better" online experience
    - slightly better looking multi-platform games

*controller is in both lists, while the xbox has a better form factor, the quality & buttons on PS3 are much better plus the PS3 has an internal rechargeable batt & runs bluetooth. As for RT vs R2 that depends on game & use.
At the end of the day 360 controller is wicked for the likes of Gears & Halo, but I'd much rather play Fifa or Uncharted on PS3 controller.

The 360 can be made into a media server as well can't it? I had a lot of trouble getting movies to play off my PC onto the TV through the PS3 without the videos stuttering. Got there in the end though! (wireless problem not a ps3 problem).
