I'm not too sure about the quad SLI, I've had a look on Wikipedia about it and it doesn't say anything about Alienware quad SLI.
Were you meaning 2 dual GPU cards, or 4 single GPU cards?
I've got something even better for just over half the price.

Yup, no argument about the number of updates, but on a good connection the longest ones don't take too long. But mostly my point is, even the updates are plug and play, whereas you can spend ages searching the 'net finding out why your game isn't working on your PC, only to find out eventually that the latest driver is no good for your game and you have to uninstall.
<<<<<<. PC technician here I know the arguments for PC gaming, but that's not what we are discussing here, if you want advice regarding PC gaming systems flick me a PM :P
I work in a store that sells TV's gaming consoles and home theater systems.
so when I purchased my home entertainment package I had a lot of choices and at floor cost too.
I went for a mid range 3D Full HD LED 40" TV, PS3 bundle with play TV a new cabinet and a basic surround sound package. the same setup with an XboX 360 would have cost me more........ a 3D blue ray player with twin tuners and HDD recording costs more than the PS3 play TV bundle, and then you'd have the cost of the console on top as well.
if you want all those in one (3D, Blueray, my freeview (twin tuners and HDD) get a PS3, if you dun care and all you want is a cheap console get an Xbox it does almost everything else that the PS3 can do that I haven't listed (it can do 3D too, but not 3D blue rays just gaming).
oh yeah and when you buy a console bundle they are almost all sold at or below cost (everywhere, to stay competitive) they make money on your games not on the hardware, you can get a ps3 for like $699.00 (320GB version) or you can get the PS3 Play TV bundle for the same price. other consoles same deal, the console costs more than a bundle get the free extras :P.

I did and the performance was awesome but the heat and noise just wasn't worth it.
Bloody hell! talk about opening a can of worms.....
Thanks avgas
not interested in blueray, high end pc, 50" HDD etc.
Just want to blast a few things, drive a few things and generally jump from place to place and also have a few games for my daughter to play.
So based on avgas's suggestion, I've looked around and will probably go for the xbox with Kinnex so I can get some of the kids games (similar to wii) and something like Halo for myself.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

Strange that there are so many comments about Crysis.
I've just finished Crysis 2 (never played the first one) on the PS3 and it was a standout game, graphics are very good and the gameplay is great mix of stealth & shooting. Fully recommend it for someone looking for a good shooter (as good as Killzone 3).
Looking forward to the online mutliplayer now (the loadout options look quite interesting).
P.s. my XBOX360 (with games) sold for $240 on trademe, to give you an idea of how much the second hand, older models, are going for.
.......... but we have bikes??????
