driftn VMCC Rnd 1 Assault

Im going to start by saying thanks to The Vic club for a fantastic day, every seemed to run very smooth and stress free with not too many crashes to slow racing down. Well done guys and gals looking forward to round 2.

So after fitting the wets I go out for F2 qualifying, new wets and a little worried about the whole short practice thing and wobble round and not felling too good on the bike at all really.

short break then out for f1 qual, This one I was a little more worried as I had Drew out there all be it on his RF 900 and Roger Cathro on his new R1, there may have been a bit of month long smack talk going on. Any way tracks still a little wet but drying put in a few good laps and felt much better on the bike than before.

Go check my times and im second in F2 and fourth in F1. Front row for both classes pretty happy.

So get readdy for F2 race one, splash of gas and out on the grid.
Made the fatal mistake of being lazy and not changing to drys I go out line up. Shocking start and get past by 3 people in to turn one. Managed to get back round them and start chasing Travis and watch Glen ride a way in to the sun, Coming round the sweeper on the first lap the rear end lets go and I have a big sllide, crap wets going off after a lap this does not look good, It felt really nice though so it didnt bother me too much. Through the in feild and exiting the hair pin and again big slide on the exit wwooohhhhooooooooo this is quite good fun I thought then 2/3 down the straight and buuurrrrrrrr SHIT........... Ran out of gas. Park up and wait for the trailer.

Back in pitts put the drys on and some gas in the tank and out for f1.

Good start and hang with glen, dion and peter through the in feild and then they start pulling away. rode a pretty lonely race the my old rival Mark Bennet comes past and we do battle for a bit but I had just gone off the boil and let him take it. finished 5th.
New pb 1.13.8 I think

F2 r2
Better start than before in thrid had a couple of little snips at Travis but he just came straight back at me and 3rd was all I could muster out that.
New pb 1.13.5 (again I think)

F1 r2
Good start and held on to the front guys a little longer than before but could just not maintain that kind of pace. Very boring race all by my self in 4th,
New pb 1.13.05

F2 r3
Drew made a few changes to the front and rear for this race to see if the breaking would be a bit more stable. Good start but travis pulled a little gap on me in lap one but through out I could see I was catching him so knuckle down and soon enough im right on his tail. Now it must be said that guy has got balls on the breaks and turning in. As we are coming down the middle straight I am pulling along side him and see him grab the breaks, I hold off just that little longer and hit the as hard as I can, with the rear end all light and moving all over the place I am packin. Travis decides thats him get off the breaks and come back by. We both turn in and Travis cut in front of me and sure enough my front wheel hits his rear and I thought we were both all over. How we both stayed on has got me stuffed but we did. Any way get round to the line and the white flag is waving. I could see my bike was much faster than his down the straight so decided instead of risking a crash by deep breaking and his sharp turning I would cheat and wait for the final turn drag race to the line, which as it turns out just so happened to pay off. I beat him by a knats whisker. Very happy with the ride and the fact that the bikes still as shiney as matt black can get..
NEW PB 1.12.184 S#$T YEAH

I sat the last F1 race out, glad I did because Drew had a massive ride on the rf and had the crowd going. well done mate.

Any way fantastic day was had and heaps of people to thank.

Cheers guys, Yeah was pretty happy Paul. Pretty gutted about the dnf though

. sitting 7th out of nine bikes in points (just not good enough). Hope they do have the scrap your worst round points thing.
