Thumbs up WR250R one year on...

As of yesterday I have had the WR for a whole year, and done around 16,500km.
I rode it to the Burt Munro and back, have done numerous weekend adventure rides, and used it for a bit of commuting. Before and after photos are below.

The bike has had a bit of Adventurisation (links here and here) to make it more suitable for adventure touring.

Overall I am very pleased with the WR. It's really nice to ride on and off the road. It's got enough power to cruise at 110 and overtake slower vehicles, and it is pretty comfortable on long stretches of highway.

It feels really stable on gravel, although the stock suspension settings don't like corrugations, and I haven't got around to fiddling with the suspension to change this.

Off-road the decent suspension is a real improvement over the super sherpa I was riding before. The throttle is a bit twitchy in first gear, but I'm getting the hang of it.

The WR was pretty tall when I bought it (a bit over 900mm from memory), but by hacking some foam out of the seat, putting the rear shock on its lower setting, and sliding the forks up in their clamps it is now manageable for my short legs.

In Summary: bring on the next 16,000km

Nice bike! What's the fuel economy?

Get some wheels and make it into a motard!
...Full throttle till you see god, then brake.

It will do a bit over 370k's on a tank (13.5L). One day I need to run it right out to figure out exactly how far it will go.

It would be nice to have a set of motard wheels as well. They make a motard version of the WRR, so the wheels basically slot straight on. But the budget won't stretch to them for a while

Is that the stock tank? If I ever upgrade from my "legendary" TTR250 than your bike has to be it....

It's an aftermarket Safari tank. The stock tank is tiny (7.5l)

Where did you source the tank, and of course....how much was it? Looks like a mandatory upgrade. I'm looking at a larger tank for the TTR and it will be around US$250 plus shipping.

I got it from the manufacturers; RV Aqualine in Australia. The tank was about NZ$750 delivered, including GST. I've bought an IMS tank from Justgastanks in the US in the past, and they are very good to deal with, but they won't ship safari tanks to NZ/AUS.
