Cycleworks is closing - where to now in Wellington?

Went out to Cycleworks today and was told they are closing down soon after 30 odd years of excellent service. This leaves me with a problem I'm hoping someone can help with. Does anyone know who else does custom exhaust work for bikes in the Wellington region? Cheers.

Bummer news, I can't remember how many bikes I've had with their cans over the years.

Bummer, the cans they did for my XJ600 were great.

Just need to keep an eye on who picks up all their patterns I guess.

Why bother - you can get them for half the price off the internet.

I heard Damon was planning to continuing working from home. Not sure if that's the case or how to contact him but I wish him all the best.

I just picked up a set of Neptune Mufflers a month or so ago.

Very impressed with the quality. Mark is based in Lyall Bay.

    Top bloke, and great work.

I will try Neptune, got no answer today though. I need some bends and welding etc, not just the mufflers, not sure if Neptune do that sort of work or just supply end cans, will give them anther call. Any other suggestions?

Too right. After all of the customers I'd sent Damon over the years, he made the decision to fuck me around and let me down when I asked him to make me some handle bars I needed. Didn't bother to let me know he was gonna let me down. Just did. Mark has never done that.

    Yeah it is great.

Dads bucket is already out there getting sorted.

I really don't know how anyone could have a bad word to say about Damon. Has done two bikes and an exhaust for me now. Gets it right every time.

Just been out to his new workshop. Somewhat smaller but with all the useful machinery you don't just have lying around.

ok the downside is the location, its a bit of a haul, but once you've been there once it isn't as bad as the first trip. You're buying experience as well as someone who can weld properly & I've seen some lash ups (and made some) to know welding isn't for the inexperienced if you want to do more than captive a nut.

Just hunted this thread down. I saw the old workshop had disappeared on my way to Pick a Part (sigh...). I was disheartened to think they were closing down.

Glad they're still in business, and just around the corner from me. I could ride my gixxer without warrant and rego to go see them :P
