    Tyler Vic Club Rd1

    Round 1 Victoria Winter Series

I got up at 5 o’clock, had breakfast, left home at 5:30. The car was getting blown all over the road. Arrived at the track at 7:35.

First practice session was wet, good session, bike twitched a few times, I got a bit muddled up on the fourth lap thinking it was the warm down lap and slowed down then realising there was no one in the return road. Got back in the pits and told Dad we needed to change the gearing because it was too short. We changed the gearing to 14/41 from 14/42. I was not sure if it would be tall enough. Best time 1:48.460.

    Race 1

The first race was dry and a little bit windy. I started on grid 15, I got a good start and passed about three bikes off the line, passed another bike into the first corner, then one bike got past me into turn three, I got back past into Higgins and battled with him for the race, but he started to pull away and he beat me. I came sixth. Best lap time was 1:35.102 Changed the gearing to 15/43 from 14/41.

During lunch we learned about Counter steering. We all had a go on my KR so we could try counter steering while zig zaging up and down the pits.

Steve told me to brake later into corners

    Race 2

The second race was dry and windy..I got a good start, passed four bikes by turn one. Neil passed me into turn three then I passed Damon on the 250 out of the hairpin, got behind Kyron into Higgins and passed him out of Higgins. He tried to out brake me but with my new "braking points" he could not get passed into Dunlop. He tried to get passed into turn one so I braked even later then I started a gap and got ahead. On the last lap I past Neil and number 51 down the back straight, Neil passed me trough Dunlop but I held my line and just got past him on the line and I came 3rd. Best lap time was 1:31.888.

    Race 3

Race three was dry and windy. I got a good start passed five bikes by the first corner, one got past into turn three but I got him back by turn five. I caught up to Alex and Joel into Higgins and tried to get past into turn three but I did not have enough speed out of the corner, so they got back in front. It was like this all race. I almost got past into Dunlop on the final lap but there were some back markers in the way so we had to spread out. 0.9 of a second separated 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Awesome fun!!! I came fourth. My best lap times were 1:30.786.

You did a bloody good job Tyler. Was funny as a fight watching you beat Mr Chappell. I bet he is starving himself this month so he can keep up.

Good stuff Tyler. You got past me for a moment there towards the end of race three, and I'm like...

Well done mate. Its taken me a whole year to get those lap times and your doing them first time out!!!!!

I look forward to round 2, you'll love the long track on the street stock. Way more corners = way more fun.
