On a serious note, I love all the replies about how '5km over is hardly a crime' etc, but I mean, there has to be a line somewhere, in black and white. if you are over the limit, you can get a ticket, it is a LIMIT, not a target, you dont HAVE to cruise along at EXACTLY 100, why not cruise at 92km/hr?

Its 5km over, wah wah wah, tell you what, how bouts I come around, and smash you in the face twice, but dont get charged cos 'it was hardly an assault, I only hit him twice'

    Yeah, i think not.

    Speed, pay, deal. simple.

    oh, c'mon!
you'd really try a takeover on someone who's travelling 4 kph less than you??

on serious note, you are completely right.
there has to be a line.
and around that line there is also a 5% of margin, plus your speedo error.
and if limits are set after logical considerations it's not a big deal keeping the right speed. i can say that on our highways we have 130 limits, which is pretty good: if i'm in a hurry i know i can reach 140 without getting fines (137+ something), but normally i travel at 110-120. The reason is simple: on a hour trip is a difference of 5 minutes, more or less, with a huge difference on fuel consumption. it simply doesn't worth it.
but on other streets we have limit plates put only to relieve administrators from responsibilities of damage caused by the the horrible street conditions.
in west highway of modena there is a portion with 30 kph limit. do you really think
it would be somehow safe to slow down at 30 on a two lane per direction heavy used road?

ya, do something to make your local politics change things. maybe in nz it would work...

here in las palmas there are city roads with 80 kph limit, which is really the limit after which you became dangerous for you and others, so no problem to obey. but spain is a civilized country, italy is not.

(by the way, keeping on with consideration about your transportation system and the environmental compatibility, i'm rather surprised you have no diffused railway links, nor a proper highway system...)

Probably is awesome , being simple as it is

One country decided another group was undesirable , and made it law to remove said group ..back in the late 30s

Oh heres another , A few people got together a fair old while back now and decided it a a good Law to OWN another human , ,,,

Just because it is a law doesn't make it right. Speed used incorrectly IS dangerous... ( insert a really long list of really difficult stuff that would melt your little cotton socks)

but its not the big bug bear that TV makes out ...... ( and the nice man with the smile , may not be such a nice man after all)

    Stephen

ps dont have problems with fines for breaking a reasonable rule , (paid one yesterday , do have big problems with being lied too and revenue gathering )

You should look at that other old saying, "practice what you preach" but then like all KB keyboard warriors you would have nothing left to say.

I wondered how long before you took it completely off topic. must be a new record even for you.

I know it's tough times and people will do anything for a buck but come on, that is morally wrong. Lol you can always sell your ass on the street and stop making other peoples lives a headache at least.
These sort of discussions were taking place in Germany in the nineteen thirties, it gradually gets worse until behold, we have the Gestapo SS!

It just sneaks up on you, by the time you realise, it's too late!

given the subject matter I'm surprised it took that long but doesn't make it any less true

What, that handing out speeding tickets for speeding is the same as taking over Europe and genocide?

No that the law is the law and must be unquestioningly obeyed just because it is the law

So in that theory we should just have no laws and just have survival of the fittest.

some step off the curb others jump off a cliff. I hope you enjoy the view on the way down.
How does questioning the laws, even arguing with them equate to no laws. FFS if we had no laws what would we have to type about on KB?

About the same as how does obeying traffic laws equate to past German politics.

The laws are made by those in charge, if you don't like them you have the right every 3 years to change those in charge.

You said that already in "post 53" odd

And dont worry about litle ole me , People such as you good self have completely ruined New Zealand ( i dint do that , the law is the Law , ,,., harden f up and just follow the rules ,,,,) Well those "rules" weren't made for the benefit of you and I , they were made for others to make money, ( from the budget today...* Proposes the sell-off of shares in four state-owned energy companies and reduce its majority shareholding in Air New Zealand. It will retain a majority stake-hold in all five firms. GAIN: $7 billion
This is clearly stated in the IMF manifesto ,, ie you borrow money , you privatize your assets , and we buy them, ..just put that in there in the vain hope you might realize ,,,)

Speeding for example , if you cant see that the "rules" are poorly thought out and the roading is ...well the cheapest option, if you still have trouble with this ... then this "keyboard warrior " has a lot of work still to do
BTW I am quite comfortabe , sitting back here , behind the keyboard , because back in the 80s , I spent quite a considerable sum of my own money trying to stop the "rot" but the never had it so goods , did nothing , So you have the NZ, you have today , a place which is a former shadow of itself. Well done fella ! GOOD JOB
