    ZZR400 carb problems...

Just got my valve clearances finished and a new reg/rec in the ZZR and as per normal won't start up without persuasion. Usually I'd take the carbs off and clean them out, this would get it running again (the plugs are dry untill I do this).
But, this time I for some unknown reason blew down the carb vent tube (Too much time on Hondas, blowing strange things hapens so often now ) and it started up rather instantly....

Now, every time the bike is started and then left to sit for a while, eg; over night, it does this.

Has anyone experienced this before? Seems to me like it's somehow getting an air lock stopping fuel from pulling from the bowls.

I assume you mean the bowl vent not the cv slide one, it sounds like it isn't creating enough vacuum to draw fuel through, does it crank over at a decent clip? maybe it takes a bit to draw the fuel up the emulsion tubes and sitting a while just tips it over to not pulling it through

I actually haven't looked to see which I was blowing in I'll re check tomorrow, but the tube vents over the air box and I am reasonably certain it's for the slides...but, I have been wrong on two occasions before.

It cranks over at a fairly normal speed, not slow or fast sounding.

Would you have time to come have a look/laugh/hammer tomorrow?

hmm, positive pressure on the slide vent would lift them a bit, but unless you got sticky slide I wouldn't think that would make much difference, and you got em to move really freely I thought.

sounds like a plan, txt me ur address /time, I'll try and remember to bring a vac guage too
