    Wheel repair in Christchurch?

I had a little whoopsie on the DRZ the other day, and by "had a little whoopsie" I mean "had a head on with a car and fucked my bike", part of which was some damage to the front wheel.

Part of the edge of the wheel has now bent out, and can hopefully be bent back into place.

Can anyone recommend me a place who specialises in rim repair, particularly motorcycle rims?

Rim repair - maybe a Honda dealer bawahahahahah

Try Elite wheels - I know they repair car wheels so a bike rim should be up their alley.

Ok you had a head on, with a car, I am guessing one of you was on the wrong side and if it was not you then the driver of the car should be paying, this is of course if you were on the road.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

I was on the wrong side of the road. However my insurance company has told me I'm not at fault as the other driver should have looked before pulling out, but that said, an insurance company would say that. I imagine her insurance has told her the same thing.

I'm really just trying to arrange things now so I can get the bike back together asap, whatever happens.

traditionally in ChCh for wire wheel repairs you go to Len Renolds - Wire Wheel services in Buchan St Sydenham. Very good and reasonable prices.

Just let insurance arrange a new wheel, if you want to motard it give me a pm or call I might be able to lend/sell you some wheels for the GS500

Assuming the earthquake has not affected his building OR if he has not retired, the man is a master with spoked wheel repairs.

Think it is easier, cheaper, quicker and safer to buy new or second hand wheel....
or buy new rim and respoke it....

Len's still there - top floor is munted and he's not going far from the side door but he's still going.
Thorpes do mags, as far as I know Elite also mags only.

Just to dredge this thread, the business is still going in the same location. I spoke with Peter King who I think owns the business now - it is called Wheel Building Services. Seemed like a good bloke.

Starts back officially on 15 Jan.
