First "Oh cr**p" moment

Coming home (after doing some maintenance on the bike) I had my first oh crap moment! Been riding for almost 2 years and this is the first...

Rain had just started and I was taking it easy coming up Johns Rd past Chch airport, I slowed down to go round the roundabout and as I went round, I felt the bike somewhat wobble, either it was the road conditions or an aftershock (nope, no aftershock recorded!) Gave me abit of a fright, thank goodness my speed was down or I think I would have come off!

Did you work out what the wobble was? Hope it is not connected to the maintenance.
I do wonder what it is like riding through an earthquake, don't notice them in cages but do you really fell a wobble on the bike or is it more like 'why is the changing position?' Dumb kind of question as it so much depends on the type and strength of quake.

Unlike you to get a wobble on mate...except after leaving the pub lol.
Those roundabouts are shit!, the surface and camber of the road is not bike friendly (on two of them any way) and the traffic is unforgiving.
Sooo glad to be only reading about a wobble...could have been worse.

The first one was when my dad was barking commands at me. I was learning on a TS185 that was too big for me

Pull in the clutch he says
Pull in the brake he says
Put the bike into neutral he says....

It was all too much, too confusing.
The big dropped and I though oh crap!
exhaust burnt my leg when it landed and pinned me to the ground.

Unfortunately no aftershock to blame it on it is weird to drive during one, I was driving the work van when the Feb quake hit, felt like I was in the wrong gear!

Unfortunately no aftershock to blame it on it is weird to drive during one, I was driving the work van when the Feb quake hit, felt like I was in the wrong gear!

Makes sense. The media makes it look so bad down there you sometimes wonder how you can get anywhere, but of course they concentrate on the red zone.

Forgot to say in the first post that I was glad you are ok and that it was only a wobbly oh shit moment. Sorry about that.

Had a couple of those back in the UK, first was riding a 500 infront of an instructor who was suprised I stayed on and second on a motox bike on tarmac with a 4x4 right up my arse on a dark rainy night. Both times the road was wet and I was either too quick or made some movement or other to lose traction on the back wheel and get slightly sideways. Scary shit! Be safe.
