BDOTGNZA field trip to Whakatane strikes gold

The Brave Defenders' Brunch Unit happened to be in Whakatane on Saturday. Saturday afternoon in fact. Time and beautiful Bay weather had conspired somewhat.

Succumbing to peckishness, the Brunch Unit moseyed into a favourite spot -- Poppy's Cafe on the main street.

Poppy's has been done up somewhat since the last time the Brunch Unit visited. But the food and service are still excellent.

Poppy's has a very ornate and fastidiously presented blackboard menu. One of those blackboard menus prepared by somebody with an eye for design but not a clue when it comes to apostrophes. Perhaps their reasoning is something to do with Poppy's having an apostrophe. But then the menswear shop across the road doesn't...

The menu features the following cringes:

    Egg's benedict
    Nacho's
    Wedge's

And sundry other groans. The offending apostrophes were beautifully rendered, probably having taken several seconds each to draw. I should have taken a photo, but the attending staff were very nice. The Brunch Unit will return.

I have been feeling somewhat guilty for walking away from my YAY MAHA! It warms the cockles of my heart to read this. I have 5 more sleeps...

Is your new ride a GSF or an SV? Mrs H's K6 GSF650S has done 84,000km and runs like a peach (however it is that peaches run).

Arse, actually. But apostrophes are also a passion of the Brave Defenders.
