Would this be considered a ballad???

    I love it anyway.
For a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him. Keep an open mind, just dont let your brains fall out.

For clarification, a 'ballad' is a song that tells a story. It will have a begining, a middle and an end. 'The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald' mentioned earlier is a good example.

A ballad doesn't necessarily have to be in that slow almost narrative style either although that is the most common. A lot of Jim Steinman's songs could be classed as ballads although he probably wouldn't thank you for that description. 'Bat out of Hell, Paradise by the Dashboard Light' etc.

    As you were...

Funny thing about Gordon Lightfoot was I was thinking about him before I even opened the thread. Nick cave immediately springs to mind too obviously.

Not the first by Billy Joel but I like it (Alexa is his daughter, probably well hot nowadays considering her mother).

Or for some bass slapping fun my recommendation is to listen to this track VERY LOUD.
