    Carburetors

    Hello,

I'am looking at getting a bulk load of OKO flat slide carbs (keihin copys) from the states sometime in the next month. Would like to know if any one else is interested. Currently getting one (ok maybe two) for my self, one for captain soup and two for mooools. Four carbs would be the limit for GST chrages, but as there is a hundred dollar 'small order fee' if we get in more than this it still works out fine paying for GST as well. If we get enough interest for 10 carbs I under stand it will come to about $80 each (may vary slightly dependent on exchange rate). and from there I could courier to your front door for about $5-10 or pass them on at Mt wellington.

any way heres the link that TZ350 discovered

For those that want to experement with different carbs for their bike........ all sizes of copy cat Keihin flat slides, 24-28-32-34. Cheap enough to modify or play with. http://www.alexwarehouse.com/OKO-carburettor-kit-24mm-26mm-28mm-30mm_p331.html
And a comment about them I spotted from everyones favorite factory FXR rider

I still need to sort out the throttle cable / body combination to sort out the 1/4 turn of cable slack but the OKO is so much better off the bottom out of corners that I'll live with that if I have to. Need to pull the plug and see if I can go to a smaller main since it seems to go a bit flat up top but still way better all round than than the GN carb, probably pulling an extra 1000 RPM at my breaking point down the straight than I was, close to the limiter in 4th, traffic permitting.
Id any one is interested let me know, or if anyone has comments about these carbs also very interested!!

Also if any one would like to support NZ business, as Henk said Stu Hines is selling the same thing, I think he may list them on trademe and/or the FXR website.

On Sunday Captain Soup did back to back comparisons on

    Standard FXR carb
    GN Carb
OKO 28mm (admittedly on a different bike)

Be interested to see what his take is.

    WELL !!

i found the standard carb blatantly the worst, i had trouble keeping up with the other fxrs out of corners and would only catch them after the straight by out braking/skidding them at the end of the straight.
The GN transformed the bike completely, much more responsive, and had more to give down the straight.
The OKO was even more punchy out of corners but not quite as good as the GN was on the straight. because it revd quicker at the bottom it felt like it leveled off, like i could have got more out of the gear , that could just be me
As for the diffrence in bike i didnt push your bike nearly as hard as mine and just sort of concentrated on the carb, i think i even done a lap in 2nd.

    Thats my two cents

If you're heading to Taumaranui next month, maybe we could organise (rather, I nag Henk) for you to try the OKO from his bike. Just a thought. Not sure when AC3_snow is looking at doing an order, but that's only a couple/few weekends away now.

I ran Connor's bike just before xmas, and found the same. I mentioned to Henk that Connor certainly does not appear to have the punch that I would like it to have out of the corners, we might be looking at one too....I had been looking at a Delorto, but the mortgage rates are not favorable currently

Drilling the lift hole will help with that, I "think" we went to 1mm, I'd have to pull it out and check it

You are more than welcome to either try my bike or rip the carb out of it to test it on yours when we are down there. Looking forward to it, last year was awesome.

Not doing the big T this year, too much other stuff on. Hope to catch up if you come to Welly for Easter.

    Hi Nigel.
I've got a spare real PWK 28mm keihin (and full jet kit). I'll bring it down so you can have a play and see what you think before buying one.
They are one of the easiest Carbs to set up.

I'd be interest to here about anyone trying a FCR carb on the 150.

Has anyone tried a Mikuni TM28? Its off a TZR250,

How well does a 2T carb work on a 4T? Would it need more than jetting changed

I ran a TM 28 for quite a while. It was great on a standard engine. But when things started to get modified I had endless problems tying to get it to work properly. Ended up spending the cost of 2 PWKs on jets, jet needles, needle jets. You get the picture. It did work but not as well as the PWK that went straight on and gave more power at the top. As Bert said the PWK's are easy to setup. They work fine on a 4 stroke. Especially when jetted correctly. I have the power jet cheap version. Quite nice as they will not lean out when on full noise for long periods. With the power jet version I think the main was about a 118. None power jet around the 130 mark. They weigh nothing as well. + + +
