Lightbulb Old black plate - anyone got a spare?

I'm trying to find a couple of old silver on black plates to use on my older bikes. Would be great to find a couple that were available as a personilsed plate (ie not already a letter / number combo currently in use).

Ideally 2 plates both with 2 letters and 1,2 or 3 numbers as both bikes would have come with this format. That's what i've been able to find out online anyway.... Happy to stand corrected. AFAIK 2 letters were used between 1967 and 1986. Changed to 3 letters from 1986 onwards.

Super duper ideally one plate would have the number 71 and one the number 86 in it!

Are you someone with a shed full of these plates? :-D

It was about 1973 when the bike rego plates went to two digits/three letters.
From memory, my (early)1974 Yamaha TX650's rego was 80ARP

    All numbers pre 67?

Was there no period when one letter was used?

Were mopeds different to motorbikes? I've got an old plate sitting in my shed from a long dead 1956 moped that's 909RI if it's any use to you. My old CB360 (1974?) was 26CLW so they were 2 numbers/3 letters then.

The 5 digit number thing makes some sense, my old scooter had one painted on the front guard.

Ive a feeling that its illegal to revin/re-reg and use an old plate. Having said that, the chances of someone pulling you over, and noticing it is pretty bloody slim.

Are you going to buy the personalised equivalent, then use the old one so it look original?
Pricey, theyre about 800 fucking dollars now arent they?

Thanks guys! If no one comes out of the wood work with one featuring 71 i'll take you up on that :-)
Edit: Just been looking if those plates are available on the Personalised plates site... it says they're taken. Carjam says they're not in the system. Maybe one can't do it!?

That was the plan (katman's brilliant idea ) but it looks like that may not be possible D-:
Still, i'd be keen on a black plate just for display purposes. The new one just looks wrong.
