Since only an immature attention seeking moron with a broken sense of community would wear such a garment, and goodness knows we have them by the bucketfull, I think possession should be automatic death penalty... That way you can get to see if indeed there IS a god and call him (or her) a C%nt face to face....
Got to agree. Screams "look at me, I am so unique and individual I need a shirt like this to declare it". Retarded.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.

Actually, here's an idea. One could go up to him and ask "How's the weather up there Jesus" but use the hey-zues pronunciation, then laugh, walk away, and find a comfortable place to sit and watch while the moron tries to figure out what the insult was, bonus points if he gets the high horse reference.

    they're tax exempt for starters.

and then theres the appeals to the invisible friends everywhere: Parliament has prayers, "by the grace of god" this, and all that palaver. Exorcize it all, I say.

yes I chose that word deliberately
Now now, you know the Statute of Elizabeth 1601 as well as I. Forgive me for the BG link but its useful http://www.bellgully.com/resources/resource.02798.asp

I have a vague memory that Parliament amended the law to allow for "cults" to have their charitable status withdrawn. Might even go back to Bert Potter et al.

Oh, yeah. Statute of Elizabeth. allegedly the virgin queen had syphilis. or something.

this thread needs some real religious appreciation (unlike the godawful examples of "great religious music" ive seen quoted (elsewhere). Funky, yo!

    Do you hear voices?

You do, so you are posessed

You are a believer born again and yet you hear voices and you are possessed

OK, are you ready to be delivered?

I wouldn't want my Nanna to be confronted by one of those and I would want to protect her from any discomfort caused by it!

Neither the reference to Jesus nor the cunt word offends me, so why did I feel offended by it ... other than the generational thing, I have no idea!

We are a strange mixed up lot aren't we.
I hope it is not a generational thing though I do know what we find offensive changes as attitude change. I think it is the confrontation language, the attack on a person, real or imagined, and the attack on peoples belief systems. You know it was done to offend so it does and this is also why its supporters find it so attractive.

Yes, I suspect a lucid explanation from the wearer of the hoodie/t-shirt as to why that slogan appeals to them would be unlikely.

More likely the explanation would be "'cos it's cool eh".

As far as getting an explanation as to WHY it's cool?....

One of my friends cousins had one of these shirts on at Big Day Out about 5 years ago when he was 14. I remember thinking it was awesome and cool, simply cause it was so offensive about things I got told you're not allowed to be offensive about. And when you've just become a teenager anything that gives you some power of offending those that control you is great! Not that anyone gave a shit at a venue like Big Day Out, don't think the guy would have worn it going shopping or anything.
