My old Boss had a TR6. Straight 6 "PI" engine, I think.

Used to drive around, top down, playing Steam Calliope music, just to piss people off.

I think now is a good time to buy a good MGB and keep hold of it, can see prices starting to climb in 10 - 20 years as more of the remaining survivors are rusted off the road.

Dont forget the GT6 Vitesse 6 and the best looking TR is the TR5, or 4 if ya like fours AND the TR8.
Yeah, love the GT6 too! And can't argue about the Triumph styling, they rarely got it wrong!

sorta... they all run the 2.5/6 the TC (twin carb) poking out 100hp, the PI (petrol Injection) pokes 130hp, however the TR (Triumph Racing) 5 and 6 stoke up at 150hp
    cheers DD

The PI 2.5s use to give my 3.3 Victor a run for its money, luckily not many of my mates Dads had 2.5s!

Stags never came with Rover V8´s from the factory - it was a common mod to fit a Buick/Rover V8.
I love the smell of twin V16's in the morning..

I also cannot think of a better thread to make comment on any New Zealand reporter trying to say the word Birmingham re the Commonwealth Games.

    Funny as fuck.

Well, seein' as I'm now bikeless and have had a '72 MGB GT for 9 months now, it's a good thread to add to! I absolutely love it, as does my wife. Parts are cheap and accessible and there's a great international forum for technical stuff. The only significant expenditure has been a touch over $1000 to have the twin SU HIF carbs completely rebuilt and boy, did it make a big difference to bottom end and midrange power delivery. I still have to replace the copper rear diff shims but that's not urgent. The rest is in excellent condition. Routine maintenance is easy and doesn't take much time. Overall, it's a good way of owning a classic car which isn't a money pit and doesn't soak up the hours. I would have preferred a Reliant Scimitar but my wife thought that they were pig ugly. I must admit in retrospect that the Reliant interior was a bit "Thunderbirds" and am perfectly happy with what we've got. Perfect in another respect too - a 50 year old car to celebrate our Golden Wedding anniversary yesterday
