    Austin 1300

Whatever happened to all the Austin/Morris 1100, 1300s? Sort of sneered at but wonderful cars in their day, isolastic suspension, comfortable, and heaps of them on the road.

Hardly got any pictures of them, stupid youth, was too busy having fun.

What better way to enjoy the Chch summer than a top down cruisy drive to Akaroa. Here is the awesome view from the Hilltop tavern!
    Always loved the TR6!

Yup, a 1300GT is a hoot! We did have an 1100 Mk1 and it was a very good car for around town or long distance and had the best headlights of any of the era.

My best man at my first funeral had a morry minor,he put an HC Viva motor replant, then chucked in a Toymota 1300,and 5speed box,was a nice Tangerine car.

Wish I could find an old Datsun 1200 or 120y sss without rust, man they could hum,and chew the gas with twin Dellorto 40dcoe(iirc).

Another mate had one of the last model minis with factory fold back sunroof 1350gt engine, was impressive in the 80's for sure.

The Daimler V8 was a nicer car to drive than a MkII Jag with any engine. All the ones I've driven were auto and power steer, most of the Jags were not,and I don't know how they raced them in the day.

The Daimler V8 was not dohc, but a hemi head pushrod.

MINT, but as for the machinical injection, may have increased the hp from 100 to 140 (150 for the TR) but wahta a hassle, be why I used 3 twin barrel webbers... petrol ws cheaper back then BTW Ill take a TR5 over the 6, less refined and more curves.

Ahhhh... ok whos gona break it down for me, you know save me googling.. Hemi? Ill take a guess as it being twin over head rockers as the plugs went through the middle of the rocker cover...

On another note, give me a TVR, Aston Martin Vantage or DB over a mustang or yanker any day

Ummmn no that was the Norton commando. Think you mean hydrolastic, (which Robert Taylor has renamed hydrospastic) those cars flopped around like a fat chick on an unbaffled waterbed
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

LOL know what you mean. I used to diss the 1100 and 1300s (driving a MKI 1500 Cortina myself) but then a flatmate had one and I changed my mind. Awful things to work on, no room under the bonnet, but drove well, was reliable and went everywhere in comfort. Excellent cabin space too.
