Had to go into town this morning because the Lyttleton Chemist was damaged and closed in yesterdays earthquake. Took our trusty MG Midget in, got a wof and had a ball, I don't know I don't drive this car more often, it goes bloddy well. I really suprised a Golf going up Dyers road, he was doing 50mph and wasn't expecting to be passed by a old car .

Pics of the Midget? I personally preferred the Sprite, but nowadays either is fabulous! I took our MX5, (Shhhh...), to town yesterday and noticed it had run out of WoF last month, Ooops, Sorry Officer, so called in and got one. First time it ever failed! Needed a headlight and a wee T-joiner in the windscreeen washer hose. I mean just how unreliable do these things get...?

Attached are pics of my first "car" the 1950 Bradford and our old 1952 Wolseley 6/80Loved both!

brings back a memory or three. My dad was an electrician and his work van was a Braddy, family sedan (mums car) was an Austin 10. Later on the work vehicle became a Fordson, then a forward control Commer, while the cars went from Humber 10, Mk II Consul and Humber 90.
Then mum totally kicked over the traces and bought a Mitsubishi GTO ! (The first model)

We had a ball in the Bradford! Amazing how many you could pile into it and cruise along the beach. One time I was taking a bunch of schoolmates home and going up the hill out to Leigh, one of them got out and walked ahead of us and waited for me at the top... You could count the revolutions of the engine!

Another time, coming back to Warkworth from Wellsford late at night from a party, I was bored with driving with the lights off, (it was a full moon), and decided to count the white lines from the bottom of the Dome into Warkworth, you know there are, or were then, 333?

I've always loved the TA Midget. A seriously beautiful car.

On a whole most of the Brit cars are fairly cheap next to say the bloody yank stuff, eg Mustangs etc. Those things cost a bucket load!

If it was an slightly older Golf he was probably just amazed it was actually running...

I always loved the 6/80 - until I had to do frost plugs on one. I had to lie across the engine with my legs over the mudguard,and work upside down doing the frost plugs on the block.
