Oh TT is good at race starters, We attempted to fire up a bucket racer using one of his,

It used an R1 on a race stand and the bucket on a race stand ....

    Lolz,

I love how it wore through the tyre on the R1 and still didnt fire,

Then after kicking the shit out of it and hitting it with a hammer, it fired up with a kick.

Goal is debut at Hampton Downs, Labour Weekend.

Waiting for an AP master cylinder to arrive. Mate does the wiring over the next couple of weeks. Once it is going I'll probably give it to Shaun Harris for a once over.

November is getting one step ahead of myself but yeah i'd like to.

    Thread Dredge...

I'm re-visitng the starting rollers I made for Guy Martin's visit to cemetery circuit last year. They were made to start a Manx Norton with a 2000W Grinder and They do that very well .

I gave them to the bike owner as I have no real use for them these days & over the last year a few things have gotten a bit niggly. The switch blew out, its too heavy and also needs a rubber mat underneath it.

Here's some pics of the second version, soon to be V3.0.

Are you driving the roller at the grinder end ? I'd thought of using a quill shaft through the roller to drive on the other end - just to build in a little shock absorbing element to protect the grinder gears.....

The grinder just threads directly into the roller shaft. But the shafts go right through. It's an older type of grinder without the soft start. Seems to work fine.
Most important thing is to let the wheel build up momentum before slipping the clutch, dumping it will just skid the tyre. At a little over 14:1 the big single also needs to be cycled backwards to the compression stroke.

A cushion drive certainly wouldn't hurt though
