they didn't ask for the docket as my wife picked the wheel up

But seriously I WOULD never buy a bike from there... it might not be the shop the ruined it for me but the cock salesman with thin face and bond hair. Don't know is name but I have tried to buy two bikes off that man.... ok I'll try and be PC...

The first time was quite some time ago...Anyway I was about 22-24 yrs old.. Had a GSXR750 and sold it. I decided to buy a Duke.. 750SS about 15k and $15,000 and he did not take me seriously.. I left and went to Holeshot and purchased one there. Took it back to Haldnes and ask the same salesman where do I take it to get it serviced....yep and it felt good.

A couple of years later when I wrote the 750 off I went back to Haldanes and my eye caught a 1992 900Superlight.. with carbon fibreand Stainless steel exhaust, single seat, mavic rims, and used to set car alarms off decelerating in to car parks ... It was covered in clear plastic to protect the paint etc.. from memory 9000km on the clock.. can't remember the price in the shop and it was on behalf, but I tried to buy the bike from the same salesman... I have cash (insurance money) and he was arrogant and again did not take me seriously. I found out who owned it and purchased it off him directly for $18,500..and that was a heap of cash then. I was still limping after getting out of hospital after the 750 right off and the dude delivered it my house. I had not ridden it yet.


Now guess where I took it to get serviced...... and guess who I asked where do I take my bike to get serviced.... yep the same salesman.

I dont to like to talk mean about people... (except Henk) haaa but seriously this is a true story.

Forgot to add.... I go to Dury Tires ... they are so good.

The man dude running the place is Mike and he used to work a Cycle Treads... and he was the dude there. If you wanted to know about tired he was the one to talk to. He just disapeard from there one time I was there.

Mike turned up at Dury tires... he is great I get all my tires from there and he alway gives me a deal... the last set I stopped in at Cycle Treads to compare prices and it was heaps ceaper... to the point it made cycle treads look bad.

They will change tyres for me for my bucket, dirt bike road bikes etc always for small fee and mostly nothing for mt bucket... $10 a wheel for the rest if I only need labour to chnge tyres I have brougt along.

10/10 for Dury Tures.

We bucket racers are a quite polite bunch who like to keep to ourselfs... with all you strangers in our bucket world it is making us uneasy.... our simple life is being upset by these out of towners... talking up large.

Just so you are all aware, your posts are not in some secret place. I dont frequent the bucket forum, but you might like to consider that your posts do actually appear in the general KB forum too.

All I saw was a thread bagging a dealer for some tyre issue revolving around $50, though reading a bit futher I saw it may have been less than that.

You can be sure that someone will take you to task, for starting a thread like this, no matter the forum you start it in

I don't know him either, but as we all gathered to give him a group kicking I started to feel sorry for him, all curled up in a ball like that. If only his bouquet mates had been there for him. Then they turn up after the ambulance and tell us to phark off. What a bloody cheek!

Call me old fashioned, but I expect to pay a reasonable price to suppliers, including bike shops, for services rendered. In return I expect competent service delivered by suitably qualified people. I expect transparency, honesty, completion of what I requested, accurate communication and a smile.

If a supplier chooses to offer me a discount, for repeat business, prompt payment or in return for my wit and charm, then that's a bonus for which I'm grateful. I don't expect that to become the norm.

It seems unusual to me that people are actually defending a bike shop that has done something to upset someone. Usually everyone then jumps on the bandwagon and throws in a few more punches.

Colemans, Red Baron, et al could obviously learn from Haldanes (sorry, can't remember all the shops that usually get bagged, but those two spring to mind, there are others around the country I've send threads about).

Yes, Kelly was obviously upset and probably should've kept his mouth shut, but needed to vent. I've had crappy dealings with most bike shops in Auckland, but have also had good dealings with a lot of them. There are just some I won't go back to, but that's my business. Oh, some aren't in business any more, some still are.

As to buckets tomorrow, if today was anything to go by, cut slicks will probably be the go. There were the usual standing puddles of water, and when the track was pretty dry, bit intimidating on slicks. The usual suspect went down, but he's got new leathers, so was hoping to be incognito. Couple of other minor falls, a lot of laughs, a bit of rain, and I think a good time had by all that bothered to turn up (not many, which meant we had an early exit lol).

Oops, forgot to add - Arron, if fellow motorcyclists can find reason to slag off buckets, sidecars or motards, they will be in like flin. We're not motorcyclists, we're an annoyance and we really shouldn't have so much fun. It's disgraceful. Don't forget, either, that no F1, F2 or F3 race is ever stopped due to accidents or oil spills (unless buckets or sidecars have been out first). Motards are just boring and why the hell should they be allowed on tracks anywhere, as no one enjoys watching them (we should set up polls as to who's more fun to watch - my vote's for sidecars, motards, 125's and buckets, with F1 often the dullest to watch, but that's just my opinion - get Rosssi out there and I'll change my mind).

Just because somebody is "upset" doesn't mean that they're right or that the blame for their upsetness is somebody else's fault. What we've heard is a onesided account of something that is alleged to have happened at a motorcycle shop. We haven't heard from either the motorcycle shop nor any independent witnesses.

Kiwi Biker members are pretty good at mouthing off about the perceived wrongdoings of other parties, usually in the smug knowledge that those whose reputations they are impugning are unlikely to read what has been written. In most cases they would be unlikely to make those comments within earshot of those alleged to have caused the wrongdoing. Draw your own conclusions.
