    Chrome paint?

I've made up some replica side covers for a BMW and they were originally chromed, has anyone had any success with chrome look paint?

Cheers...I have made fibreglass copies of the originals as they are a bit rare to put on a classic race bike....just want to be able to pass off as chromed at a distance. see piccies of old bike I had and one I'm building. Sold original bike as it was too nice to hack and made one up from TM and swapmeet bits.

It would do the trick, but I would suggest maybe looking at getting the tank painted a base colour then getting Chrome vinyl? would be cheaper plus if you fuck up the paint you can just peel it off and put on a new lot.

There's a guy here in Christchurch that can do this for you. He did that marblizer work on my SV. He's a biker, and IIRC he only does specialist painting like that (and chromelike paint IIRC) these days.

    Ah, post up some details.

I bought some "Chrome Bumper" paint in a can (if that was what it was?) and it didn't dry as chrome - more as just a silver color.

Yeah, that's all chrome in a can does.

I'll see if I can find his details. I know where he has worked previously (when he did my bike) and I know where he lives, so he should be findable. He gives a fuck about bikes, which is always a good quality in your painter.

This stuff works! BUT, you must follow the instructions to the letter. I've sprayed wheels with it and they come out great, but you spend close to an hour applying just the chrome coat....
It also does an awesome black chrome look if you only use a light coat over black...
