    Extraordinary invention: New plastic

Scuba Steve posted an interesting thread on a new alloy http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...post1130085260 so I thought I'd join in.

20 years ago a British inventor discovered a new plastic which could resist nuclear bombardment. Why have we never heard of it? Well, no patent because he's worried it will be ripped off. Secondly he insists on 51% ownership which industrial companies are uncomfortable with.

Is it a hoax? Don't know. The only reason I give credence to the report is because its in The Telegraph. Interesting if almost science fiction:

Patent law in several countries (including the US) does not apply to Governments.

So if the US Military wanted to use the invention they can, weather it has a patent or not.

If it really hasn't made it to production after 20 years then there is a probably a catch.
