    Race fuel?

Can anyone tell me what fuel you can use in supersport class? I checked the motorcycling new zealand website and it told me to refer to GCRs and the GCRs suggest that you can run avgas? I was sure it was only pump gas

    This is what I found

Appendix A - Sports Production Regulations

    2 Fuel
All Sports Production engines must function on normal unleaded fuel with a maximum lead content of 0.013 g/l (unleaded) ands a maximum RON of 98.

Club Scene and F2 allows AV Gas

So now we have 4 sets of rules for 600's in NZ
    Supersport per MNZ
    Stock per MNZ
    F2 per whonose rules
    Club per whonose rules
Isn't this crazy in our little country splitting it into four?
We should only have one 600 class, with rules the same as Pro Twin. IE reasonable suspension, a "racey" muffler and the minimum mods to convert a road bike to safe/practical racer
Then we will have a safe and economic formula to go forward, especially for our club and youth riders heading to national level competency

There's lots of old F2 bikes around and plenty of SuperStock 600, SuperSport and road bikes end up modified so they don't conform anymore, often due to someone crashing them.

It's 3 classes btw as it's the clubs that run the F2 rules to allow people to enter bikes that don't fit in the other 2 classes. Inclusive rather than exclusive at club level.

Good points. I agree with "inclusion" at club level. But not at the expense of developing the primary (MNZ) class rules. How about F2 OK if the bike is pre 06? That means the old bikes keep going in their modified form and the later models stay with MNZ rules. Generally a late model MNZ bike will keep a pre '06 F2 behind it
And what are the F2 rules anyway? Where do I find them?
I hear they run slicks, so that's easy, make F2 DOT tyres. Same as MNZ rules
Surely no one runs pre '06 tyres!!! F2 for the club scene... isn't the Tri Series F2?
I thought this series had a slightly higher status than club racing.

Well this thread is well off original topic so why not?

'06?!? Crumbs I just upgraded my bucket tyres to used 06's a while back, figured the 97 on the front was perhaps past it. Bloody millionaires!

Rules can be silly especially when cross referenced. At one stage a particular class could only run pump gas with no additives. Taken to the letter of the law that would have made a lot of premix only 2 strokes seize for lack of oil!
Don't you look at my accountant.
