    Oops...

Bugger. How could this have happened..?

Last Friday night. Pissing rain. I stop at the supermarket on the way home at about 9.45pm - driving the station wagon. Get me stuff and head out of the carpark. Cut across the empty parks to the exit lane. And drive straight into a lamp standard between the two rows of parks. Straight fucking into the thing. "BOOM"...

Back up, get out and see that the front left fender is mince. And the standard isn't much better either.

    Must be losing the plot...

Oh well, a week of bike only transport coming up. Could be worse...

don't panic, as you were. It was cage what hit the standard so it wont count towards the ACC bike stats so Katman wont be interested. No biker hurt here.

My wife tried to take a concrete carpark pillar out using the left hand side of the car as the weapon of choice. The one she was parked right next to ... Did it leap into your path?

A couple of reflective panels on the pole would've helped. It was a little hard to see in all the scattered light that night.

a.) It was raining like hell
b.) There were masses of water all over the ground.
c.) There was a heap of scattered light to deal with - the road has sodium lamps everywhere and the park itself has it's own lights as well so the visual noise level was high.

Quite apart from the fact that

d.) I wasn't really looking where I was going - had just checked over the shoulder for any oncoming traffic in the lane I was moving to...

    And

e.) It was a dumb thing to do anyfuckingway...

I had a mate did that. To a tractor he'd hired. He took it back and complained like hell to the firm that it was fucked...for some reason they stopped hiring out tractors after that...

Don't feel so bad. Saw an elderly lady do that a few months back. The difference was that it was a beautiful sunny day (Nelson) and the carpark was dead empty. She just drove straight into a light pole in the middle of the carpark and hit it square on.

    Funny as
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

    "......yes please..."

Just as well that copper I trailed up the divvie yesterday didn't do a "random check," eh...

Surely to god I've finished the run of fuckups now..?

    Funny as
A wee while ago now, a dear old lady was angle parked outside the dairy two shops along from me. She went to back out of the park but accidentally selected "D" instead of "R"...car leapt across the footpath and demolished the front of the dairy - knocked the fruit stand over, ran over the newspapers which then blew all over the neighbourhood. She proceeded to have conniptions all over the place to top it off...

After this last week I have a little more sympathy for her...
