Survival Skills - keep learning and keep paying attention

Geez I don't even know where to start with this one. I always say practice practice practice, then practice some more.... and ALWAYS pay attention out there. However, the unfortunately reality is that we are always more vulnerable than car drivers, despite our best efforts.

If this doesn't hit home, then I don't know what will. We (us cold folks in Canada) lost a BIG member of our riding community on Sunday. I didn't know her personally, but many of my friends knew her VERY well. Today was her funeral.... and her last group ride. The amazing thing about this particular individual is that she was extremely experienced. She was a motorcycle safety instructor, had plenty of track time, and was wearing full gear and a high vis vest. Yet, she still wasn't able to avoid a multi car crash and she was collected by one of the vehicles.

The take away from this post is this:
Understand that you are very vulnerable when riding on the road, so do try to learn as much as you can about bike control..... and ALWAYS pay maximum attention and be looking for escape routes.

Check the blog below for more information with regards to what happened. The procession pictures are amazing, too bad it had to happen under these circumstances.

A very moving post , and one that many people need to read., you can never have to much training, and this is a good reminder. I am sorry for the loss, but I always cringe when I hear of a biker death. I have embarked on some training for the first time this year, and have got a great deal out of it that is for sure.
