    Lost my frickin key!

    Hey guys anyone know the best way to go about getting another key when i got no spare? Ive found another key that will start the bike but it wont open the gas tank lol

    Was going down the motorway and it jumped out of the ignition somewhere... bastard

    Its a VFR400 NC30

    Can you remove the whole cap? If so take it off the ask a Locksmith if they can re-key the barrel.

    If you can't remove the cap then you'll need a locksmith to pick it for you as well.

    Another option is to get another key cut from the one you have and then artificially wear it down using sandpaper. You may get lucky and the worn key will unlock the cap for you.

    There is sometimes a key number on the barrel for making a new key.

    When you have a new key it might pay to put a clip on the key ring, I clip it to a throttle cable or something on older bikes as they tend to spit keys out.

    does anyone know if i can fill it up via the breather cap temporarily? until i get it sorted...

    bungy a jerry can to the back and run hose to carbs??

    plastic fabricator/welder here if you need a hand ! will work for beer/bourbon/booze

    Took my tank off, took it to "Auckland Locksmiths" on great north road, new lynn. they guy picked the lock, took it apart, made 2 keys, put it all together in 30 mins Cheap as 2 (mates rates) but usually cheap anyways

    I've never had a spare key for two years (time owning the bike) might go out and get one today haha
