    Scorpio parts?

So I was being a little silly the other week and managed to lowside my bike around a corner. No biggie I thought to myself, just headlights broken and panels scuffed etc.
I get the repair quote from the shop today....$2153 !!

On a closer look he's charging $80/hour and has included everything that needs replacing, whereas some of the parts can be left scratched. These parts are a much more reasonable $500 or so.

However I gets to thinking...is there anywhere else that one may source Yamaha parts?

    Yea I know!!

    right..
indicator lens and bulb need replacing
    entire headlight assembly needs replacing
front brake is bent and needs replacing
the handle on the back is bent upwards
and (the biggie) the steering is misaligned, as he has not specified for a new set, one would assume that they are fine, just out of line.

Then the super picky stuff, scratches and cracks in the plastic bits, not huge at all, knocks hundreds of the price.

go to Red Baron. See Pete upstairs in the Parts department and have it ordered. Or else Mike in the workshop.

both good men that will have sorted in no time.

if the quote is from the RB, specify which parts to replace, and what needs to be done by then, maybe there is stuff you can do yourself? That should get the quote down a bit.

    poor lil scorpio of yours

when i binned my little one - the day after I got her home - i was not laughing. got replaced what needed replacing, but did not worry to much about the scratches etc. if it does not harm the warrant and the riding experience what do you care?
The way it goes we are supposed to drop our bikes.

Get a second mechanic to look at it. None of that sounds hard or expensive. Also try Action wreckers in Takapuna. Second hand bits would be fine.

Indeed. When I get back on, this will have been a nasty shock that will forever change my riding.

Let me know if you need a hand getting it together. Have pulled my bike to bits and got it back running. These smaller bikes seem pretty basic to work on.

Will do. But only if I have spent hours on it to get nowhere.
