Tyler Lincoln Race Report, Streetstock 150
Round 2 Victoria Winter Series
Got up at 4:30 left home about 5:30 arivved at the track 7:30ish.
Practice was wet. We followed Steve (Steve Bagshaw, Moto Acadamy) around to learn the lines on long track. The new Heidenau tyres had lots of grip even though I was only scrubbing them in. I ran wide a couple of times, coming onto the back track. I qualified 8th, my best time was 3:01:549.
Race 1 was wet.
I got a good start, accidentally pulled a wheelie passed 2 bikes into turn 1 lap three. Neil (Neil Chappell, #176 RG150) came flying past into Higgens then I noticed Damon (Damon Smith #14 CBR250R) had crashed. Coming onto the back track I managed to catch up to Billy (Graeme Billington #21 RG125) , I stuck behind him for the rest of the race. My best lap time was 2:46:143. I got a 3rd place.
At lunch Brian Berrnard talked to us about his racing career and race fitness, and about his time in the States with Keith Code.
The rest of the days racing was stopped after a bike spilled oil on the front straight.
The next day I woke up at 6:30 and arrived at the track at 8:00.
Scrub session was damp, I figured out some more lines and followed a 250.
Race 2 was damp.
I got a alright start, lap three I passed a 250. I came 3rd. My best time was 2:38.
Race 3 was very wet.
I got a good start into turn 1, I passed a 250 coming out of turn 1. My bike started missing into turn 3 Rogan passed me. I could catch up to him on some corners then he pulled away down the straights. Rogan (Rogan Chandler #35 RG150) was riding well and getting used to the change from MX. On the last lap I caught up to Sarah Elliot (#311 CBR250RR) into Dunlop. I came 4th place.
Replaced the plug and took the carb off and checked for loose connections, seemed OK.
Race 4 was wet.
Neil offered to show me his lines on the warm up lap. Neils left hand sweeper line into Dunlop was heaps better than what I was doing. I got a good start passed a 250 into turn 5 then it passed me back down the straight. Lap 3 I passed Neil, I heard his bike playing up. Then he passed me back mid corner, I got him back coming out of the corner then he passed me on the sharp 90 degree corner on the back track. I managed to keep ahead into the hair pin. 4th lap my bike started to play up again ARGH not again. I started to catch up to Billy because his tyres started letting go. I tried to pass him down the straights but he pulled away so I pushed a bit harder in the corners. On the last lap I used the lines Neil showed me on the warm up lap and I passed Billy up the inside into Dunlop and somehow I managed to keep ahead across the the line. I didn't realise I had won until I got to the return road and realised there were no other street stocks there.
