There's usually a brass ring that holds the cable up at the speedo end, if it's slipped the cable may not be far enough into the speedo. Or could be the problem I had with my yamaha, the part on the drive that engages in the wheel was bent and wasn't driven by the wheel any more, or if it's been in bits the drive might not be assembled in the wheel correctly.

Where is the best place to get oil filters? Not after cheapest but good quality.
Helps that ive worked out where it is on my bike.
Big days work on the CBX tomorrow.
Any bike shop would be a good start....Hiflow filters are a good aftermarket brand

HF112 is what it says
Little bit of work tonight. They got the correct lever in. the perches are stock. Just had faulty parts guy. Ive adjusted the gear and brake levers to the angle I like. And checked tyres. Back was at 20psi. Thats enough for tonight.
Went and got oil, filter, instrument bulbs, fuses and best of all gloves.
But real nubby question, should I have got motorcycle specific oil? And does 1.8 ltr sound about right?
Yes. Always use a 4T oil in your motorcycle.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
Well first rides today. 2 and a total of 6ks. Bike goes great but after the first ride I had to adjust the clutch and bent the gear lever out so I could get onto it. Second ride was great. Much easier through the gears. Its going to be a few weeks before I have enough cash to go do my BHS as most of my money has gone on gear. Really would like to spend some time in a car park to just to get the hang of it.
The bike seems to be geared really high, cant practise the slow stuff for the test as the bike just wants to go.
Also need my speedo working. No idea how fast im going.
But really good fun, arms and back very tired. I was holding on to hard!!
Yeah I found it much more difficult doing bhs stuff (weaving between cones and the 10sec 10m) on the cbx than your standard gn250 - the cbx has heaps of low down torque so as soon as you get any throttle it just speeds ahead
Great days work on the bike today. Got the rev counter working, dirty contacts. Got rid of the overspeed wiring from the speedo which was causing it to fault. Then pulled the back wheel, fitted new tyre and adjusted the brake.
But dumb question, what petrol should it be running on? 91/95 etc
Now you're getting serious, I've never bothered fitting tyres myself, always figured the cost vs the effort made it someone else's job. Good work on the wiring stuff, don't know why people are so scared of it, it really is as easy as following it from one end to the other.
As for petrol, a single banger honda should be fine on 91, they ain't high tech enough to need the good stuff.

So now the CBX is all road legal and running well, have I added value to it? What would it be worth now? So its an 86 CBX250rs with 13700ks on it. Great tyres etc.
Not going to sell as Iit.
But in 9 months, maybe something with more CCs will take my eye....
