FXR generator rotor removal?

i have the manual and know about the positioning of the sprockets and counting out the 16 roller pins, but how the fuk am i ment to get the chain on the intake sprocket and the intake cam into its place? the chains just too tight.. i only have the one tensioner(convex) in? what am i not getting here?

You need to remove or unwind the plunger chain tensioner , its at the rear of the barrel, held on by 2 screws. are the cam lobes trying to push the valves open, they shouldnt be.

given that you are having a few problems, when you get it together dont just try to kickstart it, you could end up with 2 bent valves, this I know from experience ! Just gently turn over by hand or with a socket to make sure everything is clear

Anyone have special tool, part number : F#CKNST@P!DS@ZUK! which helps pull the FXR front forks apart?
Its like a super big really long allen key type thing I thinking which goes down inside the fork leg so you can undo the little bolt on the bottom.
No biggie but if theres one handy would be appreciated.

Yep its a prick to undo these.
I have a high tech tool for this job...piesce of square wood that I sharpened at one end... I then hammer it in to the alen screw in side the forks and hold it with a spanner or vice gripps then undo the other end.

I have used the same tool for many set of forks now and it perfect.

Other alternatives to the sound advice offered above include; A nut or two of the correct size welded to a bit of rod, pipe or locked on to some threaded rod.

Or a larger (prob 1/2 inch) socket set with a long enough extension and a socket that jams into the bit you need to hold. You have to be careful not to cause damage doing it this way.

Pretty much what we do too, but we use a brass rod.

I could probably throw something together given that information.
Personally I've never bothered taking the forks that far apart.

just use a rattlegun, its undone before the fork realises whats going on and tries to resist

Or just put the spring back in & compress it against something. But I have a bolt the right hex welded on a T bar. Rattle gun is easier if you have air in your compressor.

It helps immensely! I had a lawn mower that required some severe tinkering every time I wanted it to start. About the 20th time I decided to vent with a sledge hammer. Full on Basil Fawlty car scene.

It felt great & ever since the $20 a month I pay someone to mow the lawn is still like sweet fruit as I realised that my time is more important than fitting that 1/2 drudgery into a sunny bit of the weekend.

That was my first attempt.... result... stripped bolt head... next drill.

Still use my high tech tool and a rattle gun... best tool ever made... except the tool god gave me... now that's just a wepon of mass destruction ...
