To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
Hi Pathos, thanks for the positive feedback about the site. Welcome to our online world!Originally Posted by Pathos

Hmmm, that's a very common phenomenon! I recommend that you get plenty of road time experience on your 150cc first, wear good *full* riding gears, and get to know your own limitations as you improve your riding style in preparation to upgrade to a bigger, more powerful motorcycle!Originally Posted by Pathos

Welcome Pathos to Monster Garage.
As you've found out, the 150 isn't made for speed because it's mostly a learners bike and an outstanding reliable cheap running commuter machine which is actually cheaper to run than a scooter and can still do the ton if required.
Fully agree that 250cc bikes are seriously over priced, hence why I bought the my FXR new back then.
There are quite a few current and past owners of FXR150's here.

What do you mean by Full riding gear? I know I should get some better stuff...
For trousers I only have jeans (dense cotton as well) and I wear sneakers (I am only 20 so I am invincible and my ankles won't break).
I know I should get some proper boots but they're expensive. The jeans will be a write off in an accident but would they be enough for around town? I can't really carry another set of trousers to Uni every day.
My jacket and gloves will be alright, they're both leather and seem tough enough.
The 250cc's are overpriced because there's so much demand for them and no one seems to have bought a new one since the early 90's (??!). You can get a brand new GSX for a good price though.
Nup, you need cordura or leather pants and jacket or a one-piece suit, proper riding boots (TradeMe, etc has affordable prices), good gloves, and an approved helmet. Anything short of that and you'll break bones and lose skin...and that's even riding at 10kmph speeds!Originally Posted by Pathos

Hmm, you'll want to get a pair of boots very soon. Even just a pair of sturdy work boot would be better than sneakers. Leather pants can wait for a while as jeans do ok provided they are well made. Wranglers and Levis are the ones I've found to be the best. A good leather jacket will help protect you even if it doesn't have armour.
Most riding pants you can wear over your jeans but what do you care if others thing you look silly walking around your classes in leather pants? they'll shutup when you get on your bike.![]()
